This is very helpful. How do you shorten LED strips to a custom length?

if its an RGB strip like on that guide, you will need to cut the wire so it goes though the cut line where it says " + R G B" which is every 3 LEDS.

then its just a case of wiring it up, which if you have a standard cable (or the cable i usually get anyways) its black wire to the + black wire to the B, green wire to the G and red wire to the R.

i would wait for Tealc to confirm this though or tell me im talking complete rubbish though as im not 100% sure and i know he will be.

David is right. They sometimes even provide a nice naked bit of copper for easy soldering and sometimes a nice white line as a further hint.

I was just thinking from the 'tips, guides and mods' side, it's a rather specialist thing to have :p
It does look very nice, but not for me.
Would be great to see what it can do if someone does decide to do some PC mods with it

Not much of a tutorial but more of a little tip...

If you have a small, probably green, led on your motherboard indicating the board has sufficiant power, chances are you'd have gotten annoyed at the light it emits at night whether it lights up the room or just looks plain ugly.

Well, this is a simple easy fix!

Here's mine...

All you will need is one capsule style pill, like this...

Carefully open the pill over a bin & empty the contents, so you have two empty halfs like so...

Now, simply place the shorter half over the led. It's a perfect fit!

Still looks a little ugly, so feel free to paint the cap a suitable colour such as black to hide it even better, or a colour to match your theme!

Posting this here as I created a thread in Software section but was recommended to post here and didn't want to create a whole new thread.

I'm going to be re-doing a project log for some upgrades/mods I'll be completing this summer and wanted to make it look professional in order to use the log as an example for sponsorship on a future build that I have in mind.

What software would you recommend using to design the build, design parts to be cut out in acrylic/metal and for logos/banners?

Cheers,

Kidge

I used a mixture of Blender and google sketchup to do my design/modelling

Cool, will look into Blender tonight :)

With Sketchup do you use add ons as i've given it a try but not found it that easy unless i'm just doing it wrong?
