The 98 ron map is nice. Apart from the fact it locks the ECU so cant get it mapped elsewhere :/

Is this actually true?
I've seen it mentioned on the FB group recently... but had never read that over the previous years on CS.net.

Intrigued if so, because surely half of the used ClioSports around these days already have an RS Tuner map on it?

Having driven a V6 Clio some years ago (mk1) I'm pretty certain it would make a rather poor track car. They are however rather epic. Buy one, use it at weekends, garage it. Taking one on a track seems like a major disservice. Certain parts are also quite hard to source and expensive.

Apparently so, yes. From the instructions received from Fastchip:

Loading up our performance calibration will ALWAYS void Factory powertrain Warranty.
Also ECU programming access will be limited to RSTuner VCI (interface) only. Even if you do program it back to stock.
By doing so, you agree to these terms.

Was expecting £600ish for belts, dephaser etc., closest recommended specialists I've found to Stoke so far are Diamond Motors in Nottingham or BTM in Brum, anyone know of anyone closer that they can recommend?

Vibrations from the dogbone mount haven't bothered me too much so far though as with the exhaust, time will tell.

RS Tuner landed on the mat today (ordered Sunday night so can't complain about shipping speed) :D

Brosport Cheadle, Unit 4 Brookhouse Mill, Dilhorne Road, Cheadle, Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire ST10 1PR

They build and race clio's.

Been to see a petrol blue FF182 that is for sale at a garage in Worcester this morning.

It needs an aux belt change this year and has a tiny bit of paint bubble on the one rear arch and few rust spots on the underside of the lip on the same arch. Has some lacquer peel by the sill on the same arch.

They're asking £4000 for it which is far too much even if it is rarest colour.

Might have to look at going further a field as the mx5 sounds like the diff is starting to go.

I am seriously thinking about having a Turbo added to my 172.

Would be cheaper in the long run as upgrading car would cost me a bomb anyway.

I know its cheap to repair bits on the Clio, Its not the most reliable but if looked after it should be fine.

And if i get a loan to do the Turbo its £83 a month for 24 months to pay back...

Arrrgh what do i do!

So £2k? How much is the turbo kit?

IMO these things should be left to people who can afford it, not people who need to get loans to do it. If issues arrise where is the rest of the money coming from? Just my opinion though.

Sold my 182 :( Don't think I've been so sad to see a car go before. I really do wish I could keep it forever.

A turbo 172 on finance? Lol!

I discovered a wonderful joy of French electrics yesterday. Ive spent 3 weeks trying to fix the cables under the passenger seat because the airbag ECU had a fault that said "Left Side Passenger Pretentioner circuit open". Only after giving up, ripping all the resiators out and preparing to scrap the car did I discover that the fault acually referred to... The RIGHT side DRIVERS pretentioner! Fixed it, lights out, MOT time.

Bloody French turd!

its 3K to Turbo a 172.

I have 1k i can spend, And am well within my means to pay £83 a month to cover the loan. I have around £700 of monthly income spare after outgoings and food/drink and socialising. so repairs and maintenance are no problem.

the 172 / 182 are more than capable of running 230BHP / 220Fttq on standard internals.. That turns it into a 220BHP/Ton car which is NICE

Why not save up for just a few months if you have that spare after outgoings?

If you want a faster car, buy a faster car in my opinion.

The RS clio is a fantastic car as standard and doesn't need the extra power to make it any better. Plus that £3k will be mostly lost when you come to sell up, to buy a faster car.

If a turbo'ed clio is the way you want to go, you'd probably be better off buying a clio that's already had a turbo fitted.
