i am in the exact same boat as the OP, wunkley and others.

i have a dell U2913WM (moved it to work), and at home i have the swift and eizo EV2736 in a dual monitor setup.

i am contemplating going back to 21:9, but i am so afraid it will be crap for gaming. also, g-sync is perfect for movies, with MPC-HC you can set fullscreen to use 3d3 accelleration, which enables g-sync in fullscreen movies. i have not seen a sigle tear in a movie since. it's just awesome.

i really do want to go back to 21:9, the immersion is second to none, but the refresh and g-sync absence are frightening right now :(

I cannot go back. Once seen - you cannot unsee.

Also anything is better than 60Hz, while 75Hz is not massive, there is an improvement none the less, i think the break free point is at about 85Hz+

I breafly had a 4k 28" at 60 Hz and besides the fact the pixels where too small the 60Hz was bad. 3440X1440 34" pixel density is about the same as 27" 1440p and at 120Hz+ will be the new standard.

Maybe you should hang tight?

I agree on 85Hz being the break point. I'm often more than happy on my Rog Swift when the fps is in that area.

I wonder if the new Acer 3440 x 1440 curved superwide IPS with Gsync, will overclock from 75 to 85? My Dell 29 superwide clocks from 60 - 75.

i went from a few 120hz montiors and settled on the benq xl2410t to the 2720 to a 27 inch korean import ips that i kept at 60 hz most of the time but could be overclocked to 96.

For fast/twichy shooters the benq ones obviously felt smoother but the screen/colours are naff. But for slower games, the colours and higher res of the import was more enjoyable overall.

swift gives the best of both, good colours/nice res and fast response.

I went 1080p 120hz -> 1440p 60hz -> 2160p 60hz.

Thinking going to a 1440p 144hz, but undecided between the whole Gsync/Freesync thing.

My progression was the same, now add > 1440p 144hz Gsync on the end
The only thing that would make me change now is 3440x1440 120hz+ gsync, but looking like that is still a ways off

1440/144hz is the perfect blend, 4k was a big wow when I first set eyes on, but the motion clarity of 144hz on a high spec panel just nudges it out
