Do Display cables degrade over time?

Hi all,

Few months ago I made a thread asking for some help with finding a displayport to DVI cable for one of my monitors as they only take DVI I found a cable and it was working fine for around 3 months but now it seems to have degraded so badly that it doesn't even power my monitor(s)

I'm not sure if it's my cable or the displayports on my GPU that are messed up due to it's age.

Has anyone run into these types of issues before?

Shouldn't do at least not until they're decades old unless they are physically damaged.

That's what I thought but the cable looks 100% fine

This is the cable in question

Resolved: Turns out on these Korean Monitors that the display cable is also meant to power the LED's this also includes the brightness levels on them I can remember a few days ago I cranked them both out and well it seems that the cable I mentioned can't push enough power over to keep the display on and max out the brightness on these ghetto Korean monitors :p

When they said they want you to use DVI only they weren't kidding XD
I've lowered the brightness on both of them now and they both seem to work now.

Thanks for your reply Tom
