Muslim Faith School threatens to expel pupils who socialise with outsiders...(Daily Fail)

(I feel this has to be mentioned in advance - both of the below links are from the Daily Mail, if you don't like the Daily Mail then there are plenty of other threads for you to read)

So time for another Daily Fail thread - I saw the below article today:

A Muslim faith School that bans pupils from watching TV, listening to the radio and socialising with 'outsiders' gets a 'good' rating from ofsted....

Yet I remember a while ago another school, through no fault of its own, was criticised for being 'too white':

Now that school ended up organising rather patronising visits to London so the pupils can meet inner city kids. Yet a school that actively keeps its pupils from mixing with 'outsiders' in addition to trying to isolate them from UK culture in general by banning TV & radio is classed as 'good'

Isn't it time we banned faith schools in the state sector... I mean for some this would just remove CofE hymns from assembly perhaps, for others it might be quite a significant change for good. Threatening to expel pupils for socialising with outsiders isn't going to do much good for the community it is just going to help to keep people separated from the rest of society.

That wouldn't help in this case. It looks like the school is independent.

I agree that faith school should be got rid of however the report for this OFSTED inspection is not online. The last one though mentions that the kids are very active in local sports competitions (football and cricket). Now maybe things have really changed over the past few years but surely that is mixing with outsiders.

ah OK, I had assumed it was an 'academy'

not much to be done there per say then, though the letter to parents in rather worrying

tis good if they're at least playing sport with other schools, but the ban on socilaising with 'outsiders' is still sending the wrong message

How do we know it is that few or that many. Rather than jumping the gun it may be right to wait and see what the report says unless you just want to go off on one from heresay from a rag that is well known for having an agenda in this area.

For all we know they may have achieved a rating of good but it was highlighted at level 3 in the report. We don't know because none of us have seen the report because it hasn't been published for public consumption yet.

If it says the same then I will be the first to say it's inconsistent but until then let's wait and see eh.

Why are you tarring all religions with the same brush, there are plenty of Catholic and CofE schools that fit right in with the rest of society - not surprising since Christianity is a central part of our culture and history.

I'm all for getting rid of those that are alien to democratic western society or who cripple their children with an offensive view of women, like the Oldknow Academy in Birmingham who were taught to treat Western women as 'white prostitutes'.

wel remember when you were in school, remmber the temas and the games agaisnt other schools etc, how many kids were actualy on the teams vs the total number in the school.

Faith schools like this are unique in that you come out more ignorant than you were when you went in.

I don't agree with any faith school. I think kids should be taught ABOUT religion but not taught religion, especially when those teachings conflict with empirical truths.

We shouldn't be having faith schools of any kind in the UK.

At a push maybe the recognised majority faith (what ever it may be).

Faith is a matter of choice, not something you should be indoctrinated with.
