After browsing the site for over a week trying to get used to it I've come to the conclusion that the new website is "OK but not great".

The website has gone from what I believe OcUK was famous for, as in the wonderful and simple way they showcased and categorised their products, to looking like a bog-standard pre-scripted e-commerce site from 5-10 years ago which doesn't set itself apart from the competition.

Too much attention has been given to the sheer volume of random, over the top, and unnecessary design elements, while sacrificing consistency, fluidity, simplicity as well as ease of use. This makes the website clunky to navigate.

I mean the randomness of the mouse over effects is truly astonishing! There's some buttons that get a stroke on mouseover, some go from gray to blue, some go from blue to red, and some things go from dark grey to darker grey, some elements have random gradients and others are just flat, for goodness sake there's too many inconsistencies to list!!!

It looks like someone has just mashed together every single Photoshop layer effect they could find. The proof of this can be found in the previous/next buttons in the photo gallery, drop shadow? seriously?

The footer has this random texture effect applied to it which doesn't even repeat properly.

I feel bad for saying this because someone has spent time doing this, but it looks like the site was cobbled up by a Photoshop monkey rather than an actual "Designer".

Posted this in another thread but this seems a better place to get it fixed ;)

Right on the frontpage under 'OcUK - The Specialist in Gaming PCs & Laptops, PC Hardware and PC Cases' there is this stray paragraph (highlighted in red) which looks like leftover from the rewording.

Also, "peace of mind" was mentioned three times, twice in the same sentence.

a website built in 2015 should focus on getting the job done quickly, efficiently and with minimal effort whilst looking elegant. This site addresses none of those requirements.

I've always thought the overclockers site was a bit crap and hard to use. The first time I found them I was even a bit suspect of using it as it looked slap dash. This however is a design nightmare and even harder no navigate than the old one

It's not terrible but it's not great either. It doesn't really address any design issues that the old site had and sometimes even exacerbates them.

I feel like the old K.I.S.S (Keep It Simple, Stupid) adage would have helped from the get go here. I feel like computer e-commerce websites are all as bad as each other because they tend to copy each other. It's quite understandable because it's hard to convey so much categorised information neatly, especially when category overlaps might occur.

It might be beneficial to look outside of direct competitors for inspiration. AO.com is a good example of a large e-commerce site right now.

Just brought something for a friends birthday so had it shipped to his but I was unable to change the delivery to his with out it throwing an error so I had to re-enter it. It has also set my main billing address to my work address for some reason and my main address to my mates house now instead of my home or work address.

Also I noticed that even though I put in my friends delivery address before the pay screen, the pay screen also asks for an delivery address but had my work address in it as default, so I have no idea what one of the two address you use. Seems to me the whole address system (management and paying) is broken at the moment.

I've had similar issues with the address being wrong. My shipping address (work address) is now my billing address for some reason.

I also ordered an item last week and paid via Amazon and ended up nearly losing the package due to an incorrect delivery address.

The checkout process displayed the correct address, the invoice had the correct address but the shipping confirmation and parcel had the wrong address.

Instead of

Firstname Lastname
Company Name
32 test gate
Postcode

It had:
Firstname Lastname
Firstname Lastname
Gate 32 test
Postcode

Yeh I have also seen it add my first and last name in random address fields or just my whole name in the first name field instead of splitting it. I think its just very broken at the moment and they really need to sort it quickly before people start losing 100/0s of stuff to random address.
