Hoping my replacement memory arrives tomorrow, fingers crossed and I can get a 2nd 5960 crunching for us - should really be running at overclocked speeds, but too lazy to bother.

Now running an overclock, and left running all last night - picking up. Memory not here today

My gut feeling is that I could keep up with Chris if I was running optimised binary, but I don't like the idea of running some random file on filehosting

If you've got quite a few cores on Windows then you might overtake me by the end of the challenge using the optimised app.

I didn't realise it was made by Sesef, like Berserker said he's well known and I'm pretty sure everyone used one of his apps for the Denis challenge and I've not seen a bad report yet.

I lost two crunchers for a day due to Windows 10 Updates. Yes, an unexpected reboot is really going to work well on a media recorder/server, isn't it?

Fortunately they're my slowest machines (by far), and some group policy magic has dealt with any future surprises of that sort, but I can't get the days' lost work back. :(

NEW OPTIMIZED APP[/COLOR]

BTW, we found a new and improved optimized Enigma app for Windows a while back. It supports AVX 2.0 FMA3(30%+ boost over old opti) for those with Haswell CPUs and gives about a 30% boost (over old opti app) to the X56xx dual Xeon boxes using SSE3. Unfortunately for Sandybridge/Ivybridge CPUs it only gives about a 4% boost over the old opti app.

The link is HERE

DOWNLOAD the file named: Enigma-Optima-v1.0.0-beta.3-windows.x64.7z The ZIP file might be the same - don't know

Unpack it and move all files to your Enigma project folder. It uses a app_info so you MUST restart BOINC. You'll lose all cached WU but it downloads new ones immediately.

Hanluc, can you stick the team down for this one please ?

It starts at midnight tonight, I've swapped mostly over to it today so no bunkering from me but might as well have the team name up near the the top :D

Sorry, missed your post :o
Done now.

.... oh and congrats on your demotion :D
You had a good run.

No problem, get to do more overtaking which is the best bit :D
I know what score I had before the start so can always adjust the final position in my head if necessary :p

Found one ubuntu box wouldn't get any work late last night when I added the project, running same version of ubuntu and BOINC, so I've left that running on Gene.

Another box ran out of work for about 7 hours
It was getting messages in the log (and on the Notices tab) saying stuff like:

Enigma@Home: Notice from server
Enigma 0.76b needs
13482166625837707296508455294996900044251027422596401029782012726271763384636952730618783393505932024335246350758056564557460147738613726978611546151458668996605602112795106310885474304.00 MB RAM but only 16268.52 MB is available for use.

So looks like 16Gb just doesn't cut it anymore :(:(
Will have to look to upgrade again !
If anyone knows what you call 185 digits of Mb memory I can look for it.

...Sad times :(
The option is still there for me to choose :D
Perhaps I'll wait for the new forum software to be put in and then try again, I was posting in 'popular areas' so very surprised it took almost 2 months to be spotted and changed back :p
