As the title really - block of flats, circa 6" ceiling cavity between the ceiling in the bedrooms where spot lights are fitted into, and then the structure on top... obviously this space has some cabling for the lights but nothing else.

Can it be filled with any material easily to help reduce sound from above? If so - what?

Cheers!

Acoustic Insulation. Rockwool do a couple of products. I've got it with my new extension, hasn't completely sorted the transfer of noise, but is way better than an empty void between the ground floor and bedroom above.

Address the holes first, they will be letting in most of the sound.

I did toy with the idea of an 8" box made of plasterboard above each spotlight, mainly for fireprooofing and sealing out the spiders, but it would help with sound penetration too.
Depends on your access as you'd be doing this from below?

Most DIY sheds sell the acoustic slabs.
