You are correct all you need is a DVI to HDMI cable and you will be fine, things only change when you get to your third screen as you will need to use an active display adapter for the third one :)

You can buy a HDMI to HDMI+DVI+VGA converter, just find it on amazon. converter box is much better than cable as it's built-in chip to convert the signal from HDMI to DVI or VGA.

Just done that a couple of days ago. New monitor is now my main one connected via HDMI, older monitor on DVI-D, different resoltions as well. No problems at all, just set up through windows.

only thing that i can't figure out, is the HMDI seems to steal the 'default' monitor spot, when i want it to be the DVI one,

i know you can set screen 1 and screen 2 in windows, however i wonder if i can set anywhere else ?
