It's fun isn't it, I have found myself only playing racing games in VR even though the visual quality is lower than on my 40" 4k you just can't beat the immersion.

It is good, the immersion is really great, and it is amazing as child76 said how hills actually look like hills, the Craner Curves at Donington now feel as steep as they are in real life.

Similar to the first time I docked at a Space Station in Elite Dangerous using VR, the entrance on a monitor is just a slit, go through in VR and it is a massive tunnel that actually takes time to go through.
Then you enter an immense internal space that a flat monitor just can not represent let alone the immense sense of scale.

I don't get the love for Project Cars. for me the track is still depthless. I have no impression of the tarmack rolling under me at a certain speed. It's just grey pixels.

Compare the two?

I have Project Cars in vr, wasn't aware that Assetto Corsa had implicated vr.

I know the strengths of Assetto Corsa as a game, my ask would be does it have the jagged edges that plagues PC.

When I tried it, AC looked better in VR than pCars.

AC still doesn't have official Vive support, so it is a little fiddlier to get working, but probably worth it.

... Put on TheBlu...

It's such a fantastic thing to demo to people who aren't into gaming or even people who are, they don't get quite how immersive it is until they try it. You can tell them it's amazing, hype it up as much as you like - they'll still stand there shocked how great it is.

Similar story with a mate at the weekend. He's what I'd describe as a fairly casual console gamer, basically FIFA, COD, FIFA, COD year in year out and the occasional other game if I can convince him to try it.

He popped round at the weekend and was telling me how he'd just sold his PS4, after not having it that long, as he was bored of it and needed the money.

I've been banging on at him about the Vive since I got it but could tell he wasn't really getting it and just assumed it was just me being my normal geeky self. So convinced him to have a go and stuck him straight into 'theBlu'.

And he was blown away to the point where he just kept saying 'I didn't know/I never realised'. And by the time he left we where talking budgets and speccing up a PC for me to build for him. It was basically 'how much do I need to spend to get this?' :D

I went to OC on Tuesday my first experience of VR, First was TheBlu and I was completely blown away I do not think my mouth closed for the entire 15 minutes, then Job simulator and just the way your brain translates the move controllers into hands, people can bang on about 1:1 all day but until you experience it, then it was Pirate trainer amazing and then the art program.
I went home (having left my debit card at home) Vive was out of stock but I placed an other then this morning ordered a 1070 to replace my 970.

So looking forward to this, brainstorming atm as to how I can maximize my space without interfering with wife's gaming (she will be trying mine and if she likes it she gets her own).

Thankyou Overclockers.

got Dolphin 5 VR up and running last night/morning.

FZero GX is bloody great, OK the menus are a bit messed up, but the meat is their and renders really well.

Also played Umbrella corps (Wii) with wand as the gun, bloody brill :D

Then chilled out pootling round Black cat in a KTM with a motley crew of diverse random cars, love those insane little cars.

how hard is it to set up.

Also the foam mod mentioned above is great - if it works for you then you get a bigger sweet spot. It is a lot better

I received my Vive from OcUK just over a week ago and I have to say that to me it's been worth every penny.
The thing I found shocking is the sense of scale it gives you. No video on youtube can ever do it proper justice, in fact until you have actually tried out a headset I would say that you can't really prepare yourself for the mind bending experience that it actually gives you.

I have my Vive set up in my front room and am really enjoying Assetto Corsa at the moment. I play on the Vive with a wireless surround headset, using a G29 and wheelstand pro. I have also cobbled together a racing seat from a second hand leather Peugeot 206 cc passenger seat, some 2x4 and 4 castor wheels and it some of the best fun in gaming I have ever had.
It's genuinely daunting when you're booting around in a Caterham 7 and a BMW Z4 GT3 car roars up behind you and overtakes! Because it's 1:1 real life scale, you have never seen anything like it! Also hills on race tracks are like real hills, what you wouldn't even notice on a monitor suddenly becomes a 30 ft life sized hill in front of you.

Here is a quick gameplay recording I shot yesterday and I get out of the car and have a little look. It blows me away that I have a full scale racing car in my front room :)

Also my new favorite thing is driving a Mk1 Escort RS 1600 as sideways as possible around every corner I can find ;)

Nice. Do you mind sharing your config and the car and track in the video. I must have had my FOV set incorrectly or something because Assetto Corsa always seemed slow as hell for me. It looks really quick and fun there though

config in - C:\Users\%username%\Documents\Assetto Corsa\cfg

Works fine for the Vive? Have you:

-extracted the 3 revive patch files, 'RevivePatch.zip' into the root dir of AC where the exe is.
-Uncheck "Use Desktop Game Theatre while SteamVR is active" at AC`s properties in steam library
-made sure steamvr is running
-chosen Oculus as the renderer in AC display settings.

does not go into Vive HMD until sat in car, ready to race, all setup must be done from normal monitor.
