Hi all

I introduce myself, Valdus, I make a hybrid system for graphics card since... 2014.

(Sorry for my bad English, I'm french)

I started hybrid systems on the Gtx 780 in 2014 and for the Gtx 980 in 2015/2016, and now, I'm making a new version. Best and one made professional.

I use a large numbers of machine (milling machine for example) and 3D software for the design.

Already a few months I started working on this version 3, so I make you a quick summary, date-by-date of what has already been.

Good to see proper hybrids. In did mine using alphacool cool blocks/heatsink and backplate under the stock shroud :)
Always wanted to do a no blower style hybrid so will be watching and cheering!!

Their backplate are great and work well but are a little to thick. The Pro series will be a lot thinner and connect to the main heat sink



Don't think I'll do another hybrid again, 4th card was just a chore

There is an incompatibility between power 8pin, and backplate, no?

A large heatsink, really heavy and anodized.

She is going to be cut, drill and tapping (not sure of the words in English :o)

The copper will be positioned between frontplate/Heatsink and GDDR5X.

Cut, drilled and tapped is good.
Looking good so far. Hope your components are nice and flat. Had to sand a lot off my heatsinks to get them to sit nicely on my SSDs. A lot of work but a good result.

Any muppet can use a saw/file/grinder and perhaps get passable results (and I did...which is part of the reasons I'm interested) but getting a result that looks so crisp is far from easy. It's quite a basic design. Rugged, industrial but because of how well executed it is (and the good photos) it's quite beautiful.

How have you connected the pieces together to make it look seemless? Countersunk screws from underneath?
And what have you used to give such a smooth matt black finish so quickly? ...or are the edges still bare but cunningly shadowed so we can't see them?! ;)

I used a paint (airbrush) to not interfere with heat dissipation.

Copper heat plates. Nice. I figured it would just sit directly on the chips as it was. Probably the better design than trying to account for the height differences by using a whetstone to mill down the aluminium :rolleyes: Very tiring that! :D
