While panels like the ROG SWIFT PG348Q achieve higher refresh rates through overclocking, the TN panel used for the PG258Q is capable of pushing 240Hz without extra tweaking. This is a 1080p panel

Pricing has yet to be annoucned and you won’t be able to pick one of these up in time for Christmas unfortunately. However, Asus is looking to bring these monitors to market in early 2017.

Does this mean the new gen of scalers are here and 4K120 is around the corner?

It doesn't I'm afraid as 1080p @ 1080p is the same bandwidth as UHD so all it needs is the current G-Sync module with DP 1.2 to drive it.

So 4ms frame response time. I have to wonder if having the ability to hit 240fps is worth that.

So to get to 2ms would take 480hz & fps? Insane.

I have been almost weekly checking google for updates on this since it popped up at Computex in June 2016. Only in the past couple weeks has it been officially launched on the asus website. Indications seem to be feb/mar 2017. I will be getting one of these on launch day for competitive fps gaming

"Some" people say they cant see the difference between 120Hz and 144Hz so doubtful that maybe only 0.1% can see the difference at 240Hz.

Its just a way of getting us to buy new screens. After all nothing much seems to have changed technology wise in PC screens for years now.

High Hz is important for VR and other applications (holographic tv?).

It's been said that we will keep noticing differences between reality and CGI until 16K/480Hz. As we become accustomed to one level of visual/motive fidelity the bar keeps raising.

The only thing im interested is the upcoming HDR monitors. I couldent care less even it was 1000hz.
My new144hz Predator 1440P 27 g-sync is perfectly fine, and all I need for a long time!
