You'd think these companies would try get some decent qc on their current panels. IPS glow, BLB etc.... and why do they all look like they were designed by a 12 year old?

I have the X34 and its goddam ugly.

Well this bodes well for the price of any ultra-wide equivalent... £2K monitor here we come!! At the rate things are going, top end PC ownership is going to be the purview of millionaires only.

Yup, monitors went from 1080p straight to 4k with 1440p not existing at all.

/s

This baby will be £1500 *easy* with it possibly hitting nearly £1700 at launch with low initial numbers

Jesus I'm getting out of PC gaming, too rich for my blood!!!! :o

why do you think it will be £1500, thats too much for a 27 inch 4k monitor, the equivalent without the gysnc and high refresh rate is £750 or are they charging and extra £750 just for gsync and 144hz?

i think it wont be more than 1000 as the widescreen 100hz is £1000

The asus rog swift 34" is £1300 on ocuk now (*sniggers*), although ultrawide monitors do seem to be more expensive on the whole than 16.9 screens...

I can see this screen matching at least that or more for the following reasons:

- first HDR monitor ever
- first monitor to have full array zone backlights (and 384, which is extremely high for a monitor of this size)
- first 4K monitor to be over 60HZ, it is the first 144HZ 4k monitor

And of course factor in the gsync + ROG branding tax.

I will be shocked if it is £1000 or less...

Also, iirc, the pound is going to drop even more this year :(

£750 for a 27" 4k monitor? What world you living in mate, the GBP isn't that bad. You can get decent 4k monitors well under £500. I've even seen ones with FreeSync/G-sync cheaper than that.

Otherwise, the new monitor is the dream monitor upgrade. Minus the G-sync (don't mind FreeSync cos it barley affects price) and quality control issues though.

£750 would be a steal considering it's 144hz, I wouldn't buy one but plenty will.

ASUS said the original quoted price of $1,199 was wrong. In Germany they stated it will retail for 1,999 Euro, so expect something close to that in USD and GBP.

i would prefer a updated 1440p monitor with the improved panel and HDR over a 4k 27 inch one

4k one needs to be 32 inch for me

2000 Euros!!!???? Only for the deluded!! :D

Dont forget that the people with a good enough PC to actually make good use of its impressive stats(i.e.titanxp-SLI) have already spent many thousands of pounds building a system and can probably afford to throw that sort of money around.

I suppose. Funny thing is I easily see the difference from a 27" 1440p screen to 2160p 27" screen, image quality difference is night and day for me. Yet I did not appreciate the extra hz going from 60 to 144. I find 60 fluid enough, but I think that is because I do not play online fps games, so the benefit was wasted on me. That said I would obviously prefer a 144hz 4K over 60hz one. Even with my 1070 say if I play Dota 2 or FIFA 17 I can easily get 144fps and benefit from that, even if it is a small one :D

I will have had my Dell 4K 60hz monitor for 3 years by the time these screens come out and I think I will get a 4K 144Hz HDR Freesync 2 monitor next which will last another 2-3 years until proper HDR OLED ones are out. Hell, by then I may even get a 8K one :p

Having had 2 x 27" screens side by side for over 6 months, 1 being 1440P and the other being 4K both IPS, The difference to me was minuscule.

What type of use? I can see the desktop and films/TV not being much better but I would have thought 4k meant you can run 3D games without FSAA and retain a nice sharp image without any antialiasing or very little.
