I did fit my Yamaha AVR in it but was a little tight with banana plugs. Tv height is not adjustable but I had a Wharfdale 10cc centre speaker under it and that fitted fine under my 48" Samsung.
Ta.

Looking at the instruction manual, it doesn't appear that there would be any problems with leaving the back off as the internal shelf and the TV mount are otherwise supported. Would you agree?

And I'd second Nick's request for a quick measurement if possible. I'm sure my centre speaker (15cm H) would fit under my 42" TV, but I'm going to upgrade to a 55" HDR in a year or two, so I'd probably need about 52cm from the cabinet's top surface to the exact centre of the mounted TV to fit in the speaker.

Sorry guys had a manic day, will get measurements up tomorrow.

TJM : Yes no reason why you could not leave the back off, I squeezed mine in as I am a bit ocd with cables so wanted them hidden :)

Ah Rubbish no good for me that they really need to rise that bracket that is nothing of an height. They say its soundbar suitable but not giving much. a lot of soundbars are over 11cm in Height. Good job i never went head and bought it. Thanks beefy

A lot of soundbars will fit, I have a LG SH6 and upgrading to the HS9, they both fit. Think the major problem is centre speakers, my wharfdale obstructed part of the bezel that's one of the reasons I changed from a proper 5.1 set up.

Yea a lot of soundbars but not all. 11cm is not much of an height lift my Dali Kubic one is 16cm in height. unless i just do the bracket by 2 screws instead of the 4 which will lift the bracket bit further up and lifting the TV

I'm going to pick one of these instead:

http://www.theplasmacentre.com/tv-stands-and-av-racks/tv-stands/elegance-cabinet-1250-oak.html
http://www.theplasmacentre.com/tv-stands-and-av-racks/tv-stands/elegance-1200-oak.html

The middle shelf has enough space to take a large centre and I won't have to mess about with mounting the TV. The TV might sit a bit low but I prefer that - doesn't dominate the room as much.

Nice looking unit, the only thing to watch on them is the depth again, 400mm is tight for a receiver.

Digging up this old thread for a related question. I'm considering getting the "Alphason Chromium 1200mm TV Stand in Black" (CRO2-1200CB-BLK) but I currently have an AVR that is rather tall. Can I use this stand safely without the middle shelf installed, or does it look structural?
