my lad is a little under the weather and to cheer him up I thought I'll download us a game we can play together tomorrow as he's going to be off school. Problem is I have no Idea what to get. If anybody has some suggestions I would love to read them. Thank you

Games I have been playing with my lad are the Lego games. Star Wars Battlefront (offline mode). Castle of Illusion. With a flight stick Wings of Prey and wheel Dirt Showdown and Need for Speed Hot Pursuit.

You can grab the Lego games cheap from CD Keys.

Force awakens is great...

All the lego games are a good shout - my boys (4&5) have pretty much all of them although Batman 2 is probably the best and most polished out of all of them (it has a really cool story with loads of cut scenes that they actually made a full length animated movie out of afterwards) - some of the later lego games started to get really 'busy' and over complicated IMO.

You could also try Rayman Origins - it's a good family friendly co-op game and is actually going for £3.99 in the Uplay store just now.

Broforce and Bionic Commando: Rearmed are also great fun in Co-op if you don't mind a bit of cartoon action violence for your son - I play them with my boys.

I have all the Lego games, they range from PC to the xbox 360 and me and my son have great fun playing them, we also play minecraft on the xbox too and this can be a laugh as well.

Second shout for Minecraft. My son is 6 now and he absolutely loves it.

It's not my favorite pass time, I do join his game as a reward after home work and it's fun running around the game with him.

I play most of the lego games with my son (7) and I do agree that Lego Batman 2 and Lego Marvel are the two better ones.

We do also do Gauntlet, the wizard is a little too hard for him, but he enjoys playing with the other characters.

Does Rocket League support local co-op? Split screen?
Beaten to it, but yes, split-screen is used for local co-op. You can play co-op vs bots if you don't want to play online. He might also like all the customization options and unlockables. :)

The bigger the screen the better, obviously.
