What RAM are you getting/bought for Ryzen

You will find with Ryzen the faster your RAM the better it performs. Search the internet and you will see people have done tests to prove this and explain why it happens. Try to buy 3200 speed RAM on your motherboards approved list if possible.

2133 is very slow, unless you are wanting >16GB of RAM you want to be grabbing a 3200 16GB kit based on SR Samsung B.

I will look in to getting some 3200 if I get a new system. Has OCUK got any of that kind of ram?

I think I need to do some more research. Thanks dude.

I have CMK16GX4M2B3200c16 (Single Rank) 8GB x 2 and it will run happily at 2933 but won't boot past BIOS at 3200 no matter what settings I use. Latest BIOS etc. If I leave everything on auto it boots at 2113.

No a massive problem and waiting for May's update to see if it makes any difference.

How fast does the 3600 run on Ryzen? I'm a little apprehensive about anything not vendor-approved.

RAM thats faster than 3200 will run at max 3200 at the moment if you use the preset timings. There is an AMD microcode update coming in May that will add 3400 and hopefully 3600 presets.

It can run at 3600 if you change BLK instead of just ratio... it's not exactly easy but it works. So choosing 2666 with 125 clock for example. Does anyone know when the mystical update is in May?

I think I need to do some more research. Thanks dude.

For example:

Double post but just messed with mine to test the above, historically wouldn't boot at 2999mhz only 2666. Using increased BLK on the 2666 profile it boots fine at 2999 and actually runs with lower voltage... Suggest if you're stuck using a lower profile speed you calculate the same CPU clock using BLK+Lower Ratio to achieve it - 112.5 might be the magic number.

Maths if you want to try it...

(Target RAM speed / Current top profile speed) x 100 = Target BLK (example: 3200/3600 * 100 = 112.5)
Adjust ratio to compensate: Old max CPU clock / Target BLK = New ratio (example: 4100/112.5 = 36.4444) - round to best .25 (best = closest not up) = 36.50
Previous settings: BLK 100, Ratio 41, RAM @ 2666
New settings: BLK 112.5, Ratio 36.5, RAM @ 2666
End result: CPU clock moves from 4100 to 4102, RAM moves from 2666 to 2999

Hope it helps, pics or didnt happen right? (old scores for reference were @2666 / 4.1ghz):

I'm still working on the specs but I'm currently leaning towards the G.Skill Trident RGB. I'm currently struggling to decide whether to stick with 3200 or to try 3600 in anticipation of the microcode update.

And here i'm sitting with a brand new Ryzen CPU and a set of Corsair 3200 Mhz. As it's still boxed up i'm gonne return my Corsair DDR and keep looking for 3200Mhz compatible with my Asrock X370 Prof Gaming.

Good luck finding any good non Corsair RAM!

If you want the good 32gb 3200mhz versions it looks like you either buy Trident Z or go straight to the manufacturers! Most of them make it, but no-one stocks it!

I would like Geil Evo-X but not a single person in the UK has any, OCUK lists a single set of Geil RAM but it's 16gb not 32gb.

My Corsair LPX 2 x 8 GB runs at 2933 with everything on auto and just selecting 2933 speed (not DOPC) on my CH6 in BIOS. Completely stable but will not boot if I chose 3200. Not tried any over clocking yet as I don't currently need it.

I am assuming after the May update and BIOS revision it will run at 3200 without any overclocking.

Most of the reviews I've read say best results at 3200mhz ram speed and are using all sorts of makes with no issues except for Corsair. A lot of sites mention Geil Evo-X, G. Skill and Kingston.

Thanks, I'm currently in Holland and noticed my local tech store got G.Skill Flare X and G.Skill Trident Z in stock. I also heard some good stories about OCuK Team Group Dark Pro DDR4. I got the Asrock x370 Professional Gamer MB and would like to get the most reliable "out of the box" working DDR4 at 3200 Mhz any suggestions?
