Me too was disappoint when I clicked the link.
A 2005 car shouldn't need a 'restoration' yet.

You mean the 260hp V8 one? quite a pitiful number for a V8
as i read tonight, ``Mustangs are everywhere in the U.S.A, i get sick of seeing them`` so this is probably why rebuilding one from scratch is so cheap...............visiting the States will reveal everything
I've never heard of a S195 needing restoration, mine was one of the earliest and didn't need it.
If they are everywhere in the USA (and they are, millions of them) why do we need a specialist restoring them?
Do you see many people in the UK carefully restoring hundreds of 10 year old Fiesta's each year?
he doesn't restore all of them from scratch............only if the customer wants it and yes some of them aren't that exciting...........obviously!
here is his latest email ............``Yes it does 6 pot wiilwood, with the power you want u have to have a stage 2 clutch and coil overs and yes when you build from the ground up you always fit new !``
an older email.........``I don't work on other people's cars other than servicing i really only build the S197 cars from shells then I always know what we have from the start ``
he gave me a choice for a ground up restoration..........either about 300HP............400HP...........or 600HP, i asked for 600HP, which has to be a Whipple blower....... he said ``not Roush, i only use Whipple``
but if that figure of 600hp from the 4.6 block is too much ( most are about 500 ) then i'll get it reduced.

I've owned both and my S197 was the cream of the crop. A genuine Saleen with Saleen supercharger, 600HP, full adjustable suspension, watts linkage in the rear, GT500 brake conversion, it was absolute as good as it got without strengthening the engine and going for bigger HP.
I now own the S550, even in completely stock form the S550 is a nicer car to drive and live with, it also handles better on typical British roads, only on a race track or drag strip is the older Roush/Saleen versions better or as good. But tweak the S550 as myself and other owners do and well it pulls massively ahead.
My S197 with 600HP did 60-100mph in 4.2s which was supercar beating when I had it, would easily pull away from a BMW M5 and 911 Turbo from the same era rolling from say 60-160mph.
My new S550 with basic NA mods does 60-100mph in 4.8s, it is hardly any slower, if it was an AUTO version, it is more like 4.5s so essentially as quick as the 6 speed auto in the Mustang though not great does shift in auto very quick.
My mates supercharged S550 (800HP) has done 60-100mph in sub 3s, it absolute crushes super cars, even more impressive it is doing these times with a guy still using a clutch and gear stick, the S550 is ferociously quick once you fit a blower, I mean they are faster than Hellcats which are insanely quick monsters.
Having owned both I'd far rather have an S550 over the S197, for me the S197 has nothing over the S550 at all, Ford got it so right in the looks department and at 30-40k for a year old car with warranty, they are great buys.
I understand, but for me this will be perfect.... i dont know what yours is like to drive so therefore i wont miss it. BUT.........this wont drive anywhere near as good as that Evo 5 last year (no car will) .... it wont be as fast either, but that Evo needed re-rodding and had a dodgy underside.

I am sure there are cars that drive better than an EVO 5, but if you feel and love EVO 5 so strong, then buy one of those maybe!

This is the biggest bunch of time wasting nonsense I have read this week.
It will likely remain so until his next fantasy thread with an elaborate reason why he eventually can't purchase whatever exotic or performance car he's dreaming about next time.
I think you should perhaps retire from this forum Mal X as frankly I worry I little for your mental stability if you are struggling to see why so many members seem to have no time for your fantastical ramblings. You say so much about what you're going to do, you're about to do, or what you're thinking, but I believe I'm correct to say you have never acted on anything you have said you might or would?

I can't get over how someone would have the gall to repeatedly ask a mass of questions to people who are actually trying to make money with absolutely zero intention of dealing with them and consistently finding reason to waste hours of peoples time to decide it's dodgy, it's a scam, there is something wrong with the car in question etc. Didn't this guy work at a supermarket and drive a Honda Jazz? I agree, it's just fantasy. It's all well and good thinking "wow I'd love to own one of those" but come on Mal, you've gotta see wasting peoples time like you do is not a good thing?
