lol, its for my nephew. he's not interested in speed of the SSD. i had a few SSD's. sure they are fast but it doesn't make the graphic better. he want best graphic gaming PC for £600

250GB is too small for steam contents. i filled up my 500GB SSD at one point. i upgraded to 2 TB hard drive (not ssd). i have not notice slow down in graphic in games at all

thanks baznaz, much appreciated

surprised i3 is a bad value. always thought i3/i5/i7 are the best to get.

OCUK website is very confusing to browse. i thought i selected the cheapest 8GB ram.

thanks again

If you don't want SSD, and you hunt for Zotac Mini 1060 3GB or Asus Dual 1060 3GB you can add them to something like this:

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £436.56
(includes shipping: £11.70)

You won't pay shipping, I believe. Total cost would be £612.86.

The 4-core will prove more long lasting for gaming than the Pentium.

No need for a CPU cooler with a 65w TDP CPU. A cheaper case will also save money

There's indeed no need, but the stock CPU cooler can get noisy. And the nice case is to assist in approval by the nephew's mother or spouse.

Don't get the 3 GB GTX 1060. It has an inferior GPU to the 6 GB card.

Was giving the same advice till a week or two ago, when paying the little extra was worth it. But £ £ £ is now a factor. The cheapest 6GB available today 20-JUN-2017 is £45 more than the cheapest 3GB.

Huh? I'm seeing only a £30 difference - £218.99 for the 3 GB MSI and £248.99 for their 6GB card.

thanks for that :)

i actually got i5-750 2.66ghz mated with Gigabyte P55M-UD2 (first i5 cpu released in 2009) in the cupboard doing nothing.

i'd like to them away to my nephew to reduce the cost.

big question. is the old i5-750 capable for 1060? ie, bottleneck 1060?, will the new PSU connector fit in P55M-UD2 motherboard. its been a while since i built a PC so ive lost the track with new technology moving on quickly!

thanks again
