SETI@home Box / Future project - need advice

Hey all.

So I picked up an AMD X4 PC for £18 on ebay :) Came with 4GB RAM, 600Watt PSU, DVD drives, 2 oldie monitors etc. No HDD, so shelled out for an a 120GB Samsung 830 SSD - probably overkill space wise. Also ordered a GTX 1050 Ti to replace the existing 8600 GTS card. Plan is to leave it running SETI 24/7.

I'm also planning to get another, similar setup, for Folding@Home and a third for a cryptocurrency. I made a load of "dogecoin" back in the day, which I had thought died a howling death ('The Thing' style) but I see that it had a little rally this year! To the moon?!?

I also have no central heating in my house, so this could be ideal for the coming winter, leaving the PCs crunching 24/7 to take the edge off.

I have an under stairs cupboard with electrical sockets, so I was thinking about putting all of these PCs in there on some shelving. Fit a vent along the top with a big PC fan blowing the hot air out (with cooler air drawn in under the cupboard door naturally). Paint the interior with fire retardant paint just to be extra safe? Good idea / bad idea?

Cheers for reading.

Jon

Main rig: AMD 8350FX@4GHz, NVidia 970, 16GB RAM (a little long in the tooth these days!)

If you guys are into seti then what about other space related projects ? we have a yearly round challenge that many other teams take part in, and there is quite a few space related ones also, what about skynet pogs? its cpu only but would also help ocuk output. see the link below to the thread

this is the yearly challenge that we are part of, as you can see we do pretty well given the size of the team
