So, My Ryzen 1600 is annoying the living hell out of me and am not entirely sure whats causing it.

So, I can't run the latest bios in MSI for my 350m due to it failing 3dmarks timing issues, So am stuck using 1.5v which has a overclocking bug causing the cpu to lock to 1.5ghz if you touch cpu voltage, Fixed in 1.6 but as I said, 1.6 does strange things to my computers timings.

In BF1, My FPS ranges from 70-120fps, That range is huge. I have a 1080ti so its not like am lacking raw power. CPU doesnt seem to be bottlenecked too, Nor GPU. There both just in limbo around 60-70%.

I also get insanely low FPS in Garrys mod, though being a old source engine I can sort of understand but I get lows of 40 fps in somemaps where people with 970s and 4000 series cpus get triple my fps.

Witcher 3 will run around 100 fps but again I do drop to like 90 fps someplaces where benchmarks say I should avg around 140fps.

This is all at 1080p, I assume that even though my CPU inst showing 100% usage its bottlenecking my gpu in every single game I play heavily, Causing insanely low fps drops.

Not sure what to do, Maybe it is a bug, Anyone shed some light.

I guess I answered my own question now.

CPU Bottlenecks?

That sounds a bit low, my 1700 averages about 30% in bf1 while maxing out my rx480, 100 - 144fps (max screen refresh rate) playing at 1080p.

The cpu utilisation seems high. if you drop into task manager in game what except bf1 is using the cpu ?

There may be something you can turn off or disable.

Also check what speed your memory is running at. Running at 2133 negatively impacts performance and 3000 or higher is better.

my 1800x i see 30%-50% in bf1

Have you tried a different driver from Nvidia?

The latest driver has serious problems on my 1080ti so I went back one and now I have much better cpu usage and gpu usage.

Use auto voltage to overclock without the 1.5ghz bug.

It should just raise the voltage to somewhere between 1.35v and 1.4v. Likely what you'd do anyway in order to try reach 3.9/4.0 clocks.

Two other things to try are setting windows power profile to maximum and also set Gpu to optimise performance if possible. The main issue is what is making your cpu hit 100%. I also turned off superfetch as it was affecting performance too much.

Both of these are always set for me.

My fps with older drivers in now, Unstalled with DDU.

CPU is overclocked to 3.9ghz now with 3200mhz 14/14/14/34 samsung B DIEram.

1080TI is running stock.

My FPS ranges around 80-90 around heavily populated bits, kinda annoying.

BF1 did look like a game bottlenecked by Ryzen (at launch with slow memory) at 1080p, 1800X was 15% slower than a 7700K.

Although with more recent updates a 1600 @ 4ghz and 3200mhz memory, it isn't behind a 7700K anymore.

** Do Not Hotlink images **

I donno if thats legit considering Ive never seen 147 as a max framerate nevermind min..

When fps drops go straight into task manager to see what is using the cpu apart from bf1.

Typically windows update, superfetch, antivirus updating and other apps / processes stealing cpu in game. Hopefully it is something that can be turned off like the windows update feature that allows other people to get ms updates off your machine.

When playing bf1 close everything else down, I just have Skype running. Also turn off ms gamebar and disable game mode. Set origin to not run when in game as well.

The official bf1 forum has various thing to check if you go through the posts.

bf1%202017-08-19%2021-43-21-71_zpshccmvbvv.png

I get 120-135 average. Driver is 382.53 as my card has bad performance with the latest driver.

Picture may be a bit small. Cpu usage is around 53 percent usually and gpu approx 75 percent and higher. That's at 2560x1080.

My ram is set to 16-18-18-36. Any tighter and I get stutters. Try going down to 2933mhz as well just to test it out.

What specs is that on Davanius? Is this on ultra?
Me and techen went into a map together earlier and I was getting 20 fps more on a 1070 vs his 1080 on same settings :/
Granted I have a 1700 vs his 1600 but the extra cores I have were idle so that should affect anything.

Some general ideas:

- Is this on a fresh install of Windows?
- Did you install the AMD chipset drivers? Current version is 17.30.
- Did you fully stress test your machine?
- Maybe try remove your overclock and see if that helps for now. Maybe even reset Bios back to default "load default settings" to remove both RAM and CPU overclock.

Ryzen is picky with RAM and I think some issues can come from bad RAM settings / timings. Need to fully test the RAM.

I would suggest reset Bios back to defaults, Test make sure no hardware issues. Then start on your RAM, set frequency and timings, then Test that fully including stress test to make sure RAM is working 100%. Then move on to CPU overclock and do full stress testing.

Edit: You can also check your Windows System logs to see if you got any WHEA-Logger messages. I have seen CPU cache errors messgaes in windows log when overclock is not stable, usually not enough vcore voltage which is confirmed when stress test failed.

Edit2: Also if you have monitoring tools (like hwinfo64) open in the background I find this affects performance too so make sure to close it and not running in the background.

Edit3: Also check your temperatures look ok. The CPU will throttle if its too high.

Edit 4: have you run benchmarks and compared to similar spec machines, e.g. CineBench, CPU-Z for cpu benchmarks etc..
