ACER 6592-replacing the cmos battery

acer travelmate 6592G

i am losing date now every day when off, the main battery is fully charged

i am replacing DDR2 so i will be accessing the back

i would like to ask if anyone can guide me to where the cmos battery lives and how to get to it...i got a feeling the keyboard comes off at one stage...hope not
but would be glad to get all the work done at once

bios should not lose settings if main battery has charge
might be wrong
to replace the bios battery you will have to dismantel the laptop
if you have never done it my advice is not to do it
you can damage something costing you more

Looks like the CMOS battery is next to the RAM slots but when you take the RAM cover off its not visible due to being just underneath the bottom chassis. So you going to need to dismantle it down to the system board to gain access as its underneath (as in not under the keyboard). Involves taking the whole top section off so its doable just not easy..

will do it...got the tools and the anti static band
the ram is on its way

well that was a short trip
battery gone again after just over 2 years...!!
i am NOT going to replace it and just set the time each time
this must be the worst laptop in the world to change a peanuts regular piece of equipment
why not a discrete chamber for the battery??
