Can I get 4K @ 60Hz?

Hi guys,

Currently running a 40" UHD TV off my 2015 13" Macbook Pro Retina, but I can only get 4K @ 30Hz, and this is over HDMI.

I have a Thunderbolt to HDMI adaptor which I have used for other displays, but using that I can only get 1080p

Looking on Amazon, I can only find similar adaptors that max out at 4K @ 30Hz (which is what I'm getting using a HDMI cable anyway)

So I'm wondering if 4K @ 60 is actually possible, and if someone has a verified adaptor they can recommend?

Thanks

Seems your model can support 4K@60hz via display port ( doubt the dp to hdmi will work tbh ) .

Yeah, the apple specs page says it can do it, its just finding the correct thunderbolt to hdmi adaptor that will work.

Have you got USB-c? Apple states 4K 60Hz is available when using a USB-c to HDMI 2.0 adapter and a HDMI 2.0 cable.

No its the 2015 model, so I've got 2x Thunderbolt 2 and 1x HDMI.

Looks like I may be out of luck here

Club3d do an 'active' adaptor that's meant to run at 60hz

I have the Club3D adapter and can confirm it works. I have a 40” 4K TV plugged into my MacBook Pro retina 15” late 2013. I get 4K @ 60hz

Reason you can’t get more than 30hz through the HDMI is because it’s HDMI 1.4 which doesn’t do 60hz at 4K.

Hopefully this helps!
