cpu x motherboard compatibility rush job!

this is a asap question so any help would be most appreciated as its a friends kids xmas pc thats the issue

so motherboard is
gigabyte GA-H110M-DS2
(rev. 1.0)

cpu is i3-8100

mb is 6/7th gen, cpu is 8th, yet on more than one page their listed as compatible ie http://www.pc-specs.com/cpu/Intel/C...00_4-Core_3.6GHz/2512/Compatible_Motherboards

so are they mistaken or is it a bios update that enables this 8th gen use.

Its not on the updated CPU support list for that board and AFAIK H110M boards don't support Coffee Lake CPUs at all.

my thoughts too re the boards page, its just those few pages via the ever reliable google that had me confused. thanks for ur input at this ungodly hour (uk)

Basically forget about 8th gen CPUs on 100 and 200 series chipsets.

i assumed they had done some kind of compatibility check, thankyou for confirmation, amazon return it is il have a look for a decent replacement in the @£120 range if such a chip exists
