Battery charger and maintainer for rarely used car

I'm just about to fit an alternator to my car (dynamo currently) and the battery's flat at the moment so I need a charger for a start.

I could just get a cheap charger but as the car often goes long periods without being used, and even when it's "in use" is only once or twice a week at maximum, I'd like to get one that can maintain the battery also, like an Optimate for bikes.

I'm thinking the type that you leave attached, and that actually look after the battery intelligently.

There seems to be absolutely loads available and the price range is enormous - can anyone recommend one?

Ideally looking at £30/40 or less but willing to spend more if there's a good reason.

Thanks in advance for any advice :)

Edit: also I think that some of these have the little waterproof JST (?) style connectors... That would be handy.

Thanks, found some info on them, looks like the MXS3.8 is probably my best bet but might splash the extra for the 5.0 as may end up with bigger batteries in future. Cheers guys
