I didn't get a bike that good until I was nearly an adult!
Yep me too. I was 27 before I was able to afford a decent bike.

Tyres look massive :eek:
Compared to his current bike the wheel size isn't all that much bigger - 16 inch vs 20 inch. The difference is the tyre thickness - 1.5 inches vs 2 inches. Wider tyres allow lower pressures [Without getting flats] to help the ride feel more comfortable.
He's really got into riding this year, doing about 50 miles so far since Jan, which considering the weather and shorts days is amazing.

With this new bike he will able to start some proper mountain biking on blue and red graded trails.

Seems more like a BMX than a Mountain Bike?
BMX's don't have gears or disc brakes :)
