Please give me an example of working harder without increasing your speed.
A weightlifter lifting more weight.
A decorator putting more effort in to be neat (actually makes them slower).
A chef putting even more effort in (can't exactly make the food cook quicker).
A president spell checking his tweets.
A pilot flying manually in a storm.

Obviously if u work harder u get better pay rises/bonuses etc. Can’t believe u don’t understand that.

Pretty much all unskilled jobs I have done, the only way to increase your pay was overtime, the reward for working harder was avoiding the cull when the next batch of jobs got cut.

Obviously skilled work can be very different but not all skilled work is as simple as an annual pay rise and personal negotiations for said pay rise. I have only had one job where there was a bonus scheme in place.

Now running my own business, yes most definitely generally the harder you work the more wealth you accrue, as the owner you fully reap the rewards of increased profits.

Thought I would post this as I think life isnt so simple that you work harder you earn more and it kind of digs me when people say that as if it applies to everyone.

Talk about thread derailing. What does porn stars and weightlighting have to do with the price of cheese, let alone the price of GPUs.

Consider if a porn star's favorite food is cheese, if there is an influx of porn stars that eat cheese causing a cheese shortage, cheese will go out. Perhaps this could relate to GPU's as weighlifters and their love for GPU's and cheese, lack of cheese means lack of gaming.

I think you know the answer to that.

Yes, but I'm throwing it out there for discussion. It was said on more than one occasion by OCUK staff that prices got hammered in large part due to the pound dropping pretty low, and now it's back up to $1.43, we should be seeing those prices come back down - unless shops are going to keep price gouging without bothering with the excuse of a poor exchange rate.

talking of thread derailing... if that is your car in your sig it is a beauty. i had to sell my 350z when my little man arrived 2 years ago....... the nissan QQ which replaced it and cost 5k more isnt the same somehow.

back on topic, prices ARE coming down again now.... i just need nvidia to offer a game, and maybe get proper full sized cards down to the £650 mark and i will surely have to bite. (the 1st half of the equation is already there, just need a good game bundled now - skyrim VR would be nice, with a choice perhaps of farcry 5 instead for the flat screeners)

The dollar cost of the cards have gone up considerably which negates the stronger pound, those prices increases being due to memory price increases.

I am quite open with our costings, this card:

Zotac GeForce GTX 1080Ti Mini 11264MB GDDR5X PCI-Express Graphics Card (ZT-P10810G-10P) @ £689.99 inc VAT

ZT-P10810G-10P, Core Clock: 1506MHz, Boost Clock: 1620MHz, Memory: 11264MB 11010MHz GDDR5X, Stream Processors: 3584, SLI Ready, VR Ready, PhysX/CUDA Enabled, 5 Years Warranty

Only £689.99 inc VAT.

ORDER NOW

Shall be £679.99 tomorrow for a week, we have had another 100pc land at a cost of $699 plus shipping and logistics.

That product when launched used to cost me $619.00, it has gone up $80 since launch, based on our new cost and a buffered exchange rate (1.37) as we pay invoices 30-60 days in advance so the rate could be far lower (against us) or higher (favours us), but based on that, were making 10% margin, which is not unreasonable or price gouging at all, something we can do when we have plenty of volume.

Other models are priced very highly simply due to lack of supply, Asus ROG cards for example.

Also when 1080Ti launch happened, many customers pre-ordered cars at launch prices, then Brexit happened, by the time we actually paid for those stocks, we made losses on certainly products as we honoured all backorders and shipped those orders at the price ordered irrelevant if it made us a loss.

Some we win, some we lose, that business. :)

Any more Zotac Amp 1080's coming into stock / decrease in price for that card Gibbo?

I am afraid not, we had 20 this week of each and pretty much sold out, 20pc Strix arrived today, also sold out, so prices high but still selling.
Had a lengthy discussion with Zotac today about allocating more stock to UK, problem is demand in China is still huge, causing a big lack of supply still.

Zotac are trying to help by sending us stock, hence the 1080Ti Mini Deal, 100 last week and another 100 this week, hence why were selling it under £700, typically £100 cheaper than competitors. :)

Working in ocean imports myself, they maybe coming down as this is the "cheap" period bring cargo in. 2 years ago you could bring a 40ft container for under $300 at the moment they're still over $1000 its not all to blame on the ROE like everyone seems think, when you import cargo there are so many contributing factors to think of.

I honestly dont see prices softening too much this year anyway, not unless a pointless shiny new card comes out :)

nobody at my work has had a pay rise in 10 years. they got nothing for 3 years and 7 years a 1% pay rise.

inflation has been what over the past 10 years? every year everyone gets poorer basically as the 1% rise is nothing compared to inflation.

oh and i'm talking about the public sector.
