Spec me some equipment

As some of you may be aware, I've not seen my two eldest kids for over 6 months due to ongoing issues with their mother.

I want to start doing a Youtube video diary for them, for missed birthdays and things as time goes on and was wondering if people could recommend some good entry level equipment that will give good audio and image quality without a huge price tag attached?

Ideally I'd like to keep it around £150 but can stretch that if needed.

Use your phone.

Any camera worth getting will be a few hundred line the Canon GX7 or Sony RX100V.

Getting a £150 camera for this will be a waste of money.

As Raymond says, at this price you won't beat a phone, you don't need to do cinematic stuff if it's just a diary for your kids, just get a Joby gorilla pod with a phone mount and that's all you need.

I'd suggest getting a gimbal for the phone, you can get them for about £100 and it'll give you a more cinematic video.

Another vote for phone, and spending money on a microphone or gimbal etc. The phone manufacturers spend a lot of money on getting good video, something cheap cameras don't prioritize.

Good lighting and recording to an external mic will make a big difference.
