Maybe, maybe not. The officer who took offence at this states it doesn’t matter what colour your skin is, the word is offensive.

Whether they would only get charged with posting offensive things and not be upgraded to a hate crime who knows

Yea right, there's no way in hell it wouldn't have got this far if it was a black person that posted it. He's only saying that so HE isn't accused of being bias.

And scary...I come from a former communist country where there was the 'political police'- an organ to repress political thoughts which were not in agreement with the communist ideology...now the PC police is getting strikingly similar

Holy thread bump! And with 3 posts all in the same thread, I can see your agenda a mile off.

If you really were from a former communist country then you would know the UK is nowhere near an authoritarian police state. It just has a couple of really really badly thought out laws which has been poorly used by those with a social agenda. You cannot be dragged off to prison for publishing anti- Tory or Labour pieces.

Yet :) 3 posts because I am very frightened about the direction. I truly am from a former communist country, it started slowly there as well...give it 10 years in UK. A new party called "Offensive" will emerge and it will gain millions of members. And just like in my country, you'll have to tell your kids to restrain themselves at school because the prosecution might come after you if they say the wrong words...isn't that utopic? :) I am all in favor of repression...of images, words, thoughts, art, literature..."cuz"...who knows who might get inspired? Better play it safe with censorship

So frightened that you came to a computer forum and were so urgent in proclaiming your fears that you haven;t even had time to talk about computers, over clocking, hardware or any myriad of other topics form consoles, games, cooking, home ownership, mobile phones, tablets, sports.

So important in fact that you didn't even have time to respond to any of the recent post on the first hundred odd pages in GD, but had to use the search function to find a thread from a year ago to post your concerns in.

So which returnee are you, or are you simply posting from Moscow?

What is "

What is "necro a thread"? I'm not a "poster", I found a discussion on an issue I'm interested in and I post my opinion on it, even using my real name out of ignorance, because I have no clue about how to change it...so...where's the "evil"?:))

A necro thread is where someone posts on an old topic that hasn't recieved any posts in a long time. Like necromancy.

Don't worry about it, OCUK has its own fascist thread police who trample any discussion which isn't approved of :p

Someone is googling a topic or whatever, comes across a forum where that topic has been discussed. Is openly interested in the topic, registers to add to it. Thats how people find this place. Just because it has Overclockers in the title, how many came here to specifically get a few more Mhz out of a CPU??

So they Necro'd a thread, at least its not a thread from 7 years ago where all the posters have sodded off to facebook or whatever.
The welcome is strong in this place!

As this thread as been resurected probably worth pointing out that Chelsea Russell won an appeal against her conviction

On another note its refreshing as always to see regular posters like d.p engaging in conspiracy theories and casual racism....

Because of course everyone that disagrees with posters like that is likely either a Russian agent of their political thoughts and decisions are the principal result of some form of subversive Russian interference right?

The Russians have become, in a certain way, the new 'Jews' for certain segments of the left.

I. E a bogeyman group who can be the targets of conspiracy theories about subversive influence in society and an almost universal answer for unfavorable political outcomes.

This isn't to say that no Russians or groups of Russians are of haven't been engaged in active subversion abroad (of any other group including Jews) but the knee jerk 'retort' to immediately go to must be a russian bot/agent etc is casual racism...

After all there its hardly unheard of for someone living under a former 'socialist' or 'communist' regime (from countries like Romania Hungary, the Baltic states etc) who now lives in the west to be sounding the alarm about what they perceive to be expanding state speech codes and speech suppression.

Exactly, some people don't think but just react like Pavlov's dogs to things. Plenty of times old threads get bumped/necro'd by spam bots and sometimes by trolls and sure enough they get locked etc... but clearly people do, as you say, find this place via google and bump a thread with the intention of contributing to it. In addition to that on plenty of forums there is a culture of not wanting repeat threads on the same topic and users are encouraged to "use the search function" etc.. IT is completely valid for a new poster to bump a thread that isn't really all that old if he/she is actually posting something relevant to it.

William Beardmore, defending, made an application of no case to answer, arguing Russell copied lyrics from a song widely available in the UK.

He said the video of I'm Trippin could be watched on YouTube, the lyrics read online and the track listened to on iTunes and other platforms.

Mr Beardmore said none of those publishers had been arrested, yet it was now "tenuously" suggested pasting the lyrics on Instagram was illegal.

He said: "It's a ridiculous state of affairs and quite staggering that in a liberal democracy we're taking up court time talking about this particular type of activity.

"It may well be understandable perhaps if we were in a totalitarian state, but we're not, we're in the UK."

We're quickly heading there to be fair and wasting police/court time with pathetic trials over people finding things offensive seems to have become the norm.

I miss the days when children were brought up being taught "Sticks and stones will hurt my bones but words will never hurt me" and "It's a free country", they were two of the earliest phrases I learned in infant school. Now it's all safe spaces, trigger warnings, victim mentality and being offended by the tiniest infringements people have been conditioned to perceive.

There is no place in society for real racism but it needs to be gotten rid of through education and mutual respect not a big brother government, criminalising someone for repeating song lyrics that the black community itself is publishing is horrifying. When you have different laws/rules for different racial groups that's what causes division/resentment and it's the left perpetuating it.
