Hi guys,

Hoping I can draw on some knowledge/expertise here.

The last free software I used for editing was Windows Live Movie Maker several years ago. I still have the software, it does seem quite basic though.

What is today's best option?

Cheers!

DaVinci Resolve 15 - its awesome, and the free version has so many features. Although it does have a very steep learning curve. Plenty of YT tutorials out there. Its also what professionals use

The Sony offering has come up a few times on Humble Bundle recently, so worth keeping an eye on them.

I (professionally) use Premiere Pro and Avid MC. Of the 2 I'd almost always go Premiere.

For the home user, the Adobe suite is fantastic and the learning curve I don't think is too steep. It may work out a tad costly though under their subscription model.
