USB3 external HDD reliable for games/apps

As above, is a USB3 external drive reliable/fast enough for games/apps?

Anyone? I've got a 4TB USB3.0 external HDD I'm thinking of using for some games.

The slowest part of the chain by far will be the actual mechanical drive read/write speed rather than the interface, so it should really be just as fast as an internal SATA 3 drive. This is of course dependent on USB 3 controller, drivers, etc. Give it a whirl.

Ah, in that case I'd take an educated guess in that because it's a modern system you're unlikely to find any problems with dodgy controllers/drivers. No harm in trying it.
