I love art but hate getting it printed and framed. I normally buy it in printed form but recently I have got loads of stuff that is in digital format, so I need to print it. My three axioms for art printing are BIG, BIG and BIG. But a quick look at some specialist printers are we are talking close to £100 per print.
So what I am after here is cheaper methods. This may well be better companies, cheaper, lower quality, or even second hand wide format printers. I mean I am a bit lost at the moment and need the guidance of someone who knows about this stuff.

Yep this was my response too.... nothing...blank...no idea what to do. What I am thinking about at the moment is paying to get stuff printed but then buying the equipment to mount them myself.

I guess it depends on the volume of prints you want to get out of it. You'll get a relatively modern HP DesignJet 12-colour plotter/large-format printer for anywhere from £800-1200, but the likelyhood is you'd then need the inks (12 of them) and the media too. The cost soon mounts up, and as with all inkjets they'll dry out through lack of use (and waste a monumental amount of ink self-cleaning if they have dried up te heads).

Unless you want to print a good number of these a month, I just don't see how you'll make the investment back any time soon.

I guess. I have been looking at it for a while now and no matter what I look at, it's expensive. It may be better to just pay for the prints lol. :((

I can do A2 posters at £8 a pop, A1 at £14 and A0 at £20, on nice thick satin paper. Gets cheaper if you order more in a batch. Feel free to trust me if you want more info :)
