This might sound stupid but to get the milky way do you just need a clear night sky? Or is it only certain times of the year etc?

Always wanted to photograph it!

A dark sky (no light pollution - so far away from civilisation as possible for the best results)and pointing your camera in the right direction. Check out this youtube channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCKxQ3Dx6K95hpLpdJjTRIlg

It's so much fun :D, having another stab in Wales this weekend but we're due cloudy skies :(. A few useful apps to show the Milky Way AR style on your phone.

The sky was to die for last night! Also have been reading a lot on how to improve my landscape work, and trying to implement that into my work. Also both 6 & 7 were shot using the Olympus Hi-Res shot mode. Which takes some getting used to. Good fun though :)

Enjoy!
