Depends entirely on the paint! I've used b and q value stuff for most costs in the past barely any water needed as it is so funny anyway!

I'd have done the most cost befor I did the floor!

Ha! I remember the time I used B&Q paint, never again. Took 5 coats on a ceiling (Of all the places!) and it still looked gash.

for the mist coat i figured it didn't matter all your doing is trying to stop the surface sucking up the decent paint on top once the B and Q value was covered with two coats of Dulux trade super mat on the ceilings and Farrow and ball estate emulsion on the walls you'd never know what cheap much was used to seal it!

Tomorrow I have a plumber coming to replace all the pipe work in the kitchen and extend new fittings for my relocated dishwasher and also my new yank fridge freezer with water inlet.

Currently the plumbing is like this:

Started painting the walls now :)
Base coat with 50% water is being applied now. The mrs wants it green.

Only painting where the cupboards are not going.

Rough idea of this wall layout. the image makes the room look small, but it is 3.8m long.

So left to right is: (floorstanding)

40cm cupboard with worktop
90cm fridge (with 10cm either side space)
60cm tall cupboard with 2 ovens and space for cupbaord above and below
60cm dishwasher space
92.5cm cupboard (corner unit)
Counter top on dishwasher space and cupboard space on the right.
This leaves aprox 20cm for space/adjustment etc.

after some painting today and building my first cupbaord for testing heights etc...

I need to finish around the window, couldnt move the washer though as it was running when I was painting.

I will finish that tomorrow and then paint the ways the colour we are going for (we= my wife) which is green.

Agreed, tiling the whole floor but not painting the whole wall seems an odd choice.

Looks like it's coming along nicely though.

Amazing how different it looks with updated plumbing

Looking good ace, when do you fit the cupboards?

Are you fitting the surfaces yourself or getting someone to do them?

We are slowly edging towards a new kitchen and the worksurfaces is the one bit I am definately looking to get someone else to do. (well including the gas work of course if we get a new hob fitted)

The cupboards I'm doing myself, but the worktops are being measured and fitted by a specialist company - going for solid quartz, so they will need to cut out holes for the gas hob and the unmounted sink and also the instant hot tap.

Also my walls are not 100% 90 degrees, if they visit first and measure up - they have to correct if they cut it wrong. £80 extra for them to do that, not bad really.

Yep that was pretty much my logic on the worktops. Plus she who must be obeyed wants one of them deep sinks so that adds to the complexity of the worksurface i guess. I assume they also need to do tap cutouts?

Local company or national doing the surfaces? Sorry if you posted this before

Final job before the cupboards can be fitted is painting the walls green now. My wife doesn't want me to do that as she claims I'm clumsy and make it "blotchey" when I paint.
So she wants to do it, so I'm now waiting at the mercy of her to get any further.

Ha ha, my wife said she'd do all sorts in our recent extension/renovation project but only painted about a quarter of the skirting boards and one door. I ended up doing everything else as I just couldn't wait for her! :D

crikey - the tiling/levelling looked excellent - how much had you done before ?
but ok, if she is using a spray paint gun for cakes ? (mint flavour)

... the pipes always seem to run exactly where I want to put the shelves in the cupboards

@jpaul - first time I have ever tiled.

To be honest, she is welcome to paint the walls, I'm busy tomorrow at the OcUK car meet anyway, she can do it then.

I painted the white on the walls in the above pics, but she thinks i didn't do a good job of that - even though it is just the undercoat.
