I hear that and I also have been in a situation where I couldn't afford the nicer things and had to make do with mid range or even lower end on pretty much everything (the joys of having 2 daughters and a mortgage).
I also massively understand the work thing and I am in a stressful job (that I do enjoy) and it can be a bit much at times, so for me, my relaxation is playing games on my PC or going to the cinema (or the pub) but whatever anyone does to chill out, nice one. I guess because I am older, I tend to look back and never once was I annoyed I couldn't afford the top end stuff and get frustrated when I read savage posts to those who can.
I also agree that the price is mental as such and a massive step up from the last series/generations but I do have the funds available, so I spent on it.
You can consider me one of the annoyed people. I'm not outright angry but I am annoyed. I was like yourself in the 9XX series generation where I kept buying the top end card 980ti because it was worth buying from the previous generation. I would sell on my card and kept doing that until the 10 series. When they came out and I saw a card jump in price due to Brexit I couldn't bring myself to pay considerably more for something due to a political vote! I was annoyed at that as well.
Today I am annoyed because I'm being asked to pay almost £500 more to upgrade form my 1080ti to a 2080ti to see what was nvidia's normal generational performance increase that they did for no extra cost 2 years ago.
So I'm annoyed. Am I annoyed at you for buying it? In part, yes I am. Not you personally per say but people who buy these things fuelling nvidia's price hike behaviour. If these cards weren't selling they would have no choice but to drop the price to a better price we'd all like to pay. You'd benefit from that too by the way, we all would. What it takes though is people to resist the temptation. You've got the money to make this purchase even knowing it's not good value for money. I've reached the point in my economics where I can't afford to continue not thinking about value for money. You haven't yet but you might in a few years time if nvidia continues this trend and there's no reason why they won't. They are doing what they can get away with and the people letting them get away with it are people like yourself buying at this price point. If you hadn't bought and others like you hadn't bought and the price came down £150, wouldn't that be a good thing?
I don't want to detract from you enjoying your purchase. Getting something new and shiny is always fun and you can clearly afford it but I'm still annoyed as I am sure others here are. Mostly at nvidia for charging these crazy prices but also at people buying at these prices. They and you aren't doing any of us any favours by telling nvidia this price point was acceptable. It's not acceptable in my opinion and I doubt it's really acceptable in your opinion either? The difference is I was pushed to the point where I said no and I wish a lot more people had hit that point too so we could all benefit.
I've said it before and honestly think it's a sad day when a single GPU costs as much as a midrange gaming PC. That's just absolutely shocking value for money and it's sad for everyone.
Now I am purely guessing but I'm pretty sure most people are annoyed for the same reason as myself.
The only good thing to come out of this so far is most of the reviewers are saying the same thing and telling people not to buy.
So long story short, enjoy your purchase but I hope you understand I wish you and anyone else hadn't bought one.
