Yeah but he is coming up from a 290x right now, so the gains across the board, especially at 3440x1440p with be great.

It's not like he is going from a 1080ti
Oops, I am actually going from a 1080Ti and the 290X is one of my older cards. My mate had his Fury X fail who I work with and he is a big gamer and he hounded me for my 1080Ti knowing I was getting a 2080Ti. I feel really bad, as I promised another smashing guy on here it but he is a very good mate, so felt it the right thing to do.

Upgrading for Cyber Punk is a bit premature. I don't that game is coming out until late 2019 by which point will probably have new cards.

The game doesn't even look all that demanding tbh.

They will want as many people as possible to be able to play it, so they will aim for mid-range cards like everyone else.

Ahh my bad :p

Well selling your 1080Ti will certainly lighten the upgrade load !

News to me but whoever added the poll, thanks.:)

Since I can, added Performance not good enough and that's what I've picked
I don't argue with that. I expected it to be roughly 10% on average faster than the 1080Ti but looks to be the same as such. DLSS is where it will shine though but again, nothing out to show and tell in games as yet.

I will get a 2080ti, I havent preordered etc because the prices over in India are quite frankly rude.

However I will shovel one into my hand luggage when I fly out to the US in a couple of months.

I hear that and I also have been in a situation where I couldn't afford the nicer things and had to make do with mid range or even lower end on pretty much everything (the joys of having 2 daughters and a mortgage).

I also massively understand the work thing and I am in a stressful job (that I do enjoy) and it can be a bit much at times, so for me, my relaxation is playing games on my PC or going to the cinema (or the pub) but whatever anyone does to chill out, nice one. I guess because I am older, I tend to look back and never once was I annoyed I couldn't afford the top end stuff and get frustrated when I read savage posts to those who can.

I also agree that the price is mental as such and a massive step up from the last series/generations but I do have the funds available, so I spent on it.

You can consider me one of the annoyed people. I'm not outright angry but I am annoyed. I was like yourself in the 9XX series generation where I kept buying the top end card 980ti because it was worth buying from the previous generation. I would sell on my card and kept doing that until the 10 series. When they came out and I saw a card jump in price due to Brexit I couldn't bring myself to pay considerably more for something due to a political vote! I was annoyed at that as well.

Today I am annoyed because I'm being asked to pay almost £500 more to upgrade form my 1080ti to a 2080ti to see what was nvidia's normal generational performance increase that they did for no extra cost 2 years ago.

So I'm annoyed. Am I annoyed at you for buying it? In part, yes I am. Not you personally per say but people who buy these things fuelling nvidia's price hike behaviour. If these cards weren't selling they would have no choice but to drop the price to a better price we'd all like to pay. You'd benefit from that too by the way, we all would. What it takes though is people to resist the temptation. You've got the money to make this purchase even knowing it's not good value for money. I've reached the point in my economics where I can't afford to continue not thinking about value for money. You haven't yet but you might in a few years time if nvidia continues this trend and there's no reason why they won't. They are doing what they can get away with and the people letting them get away with it are people like yourself buying at this price point. If you hadn't bought and others like you hadn't bought and the price came down £150, wouldn't that be a good thing?

I don't want to detract from you enjoying your purchase. Getting something new and shiny is always fun and you can clearly afford it but I'm still annoyed as I am sure others here are. Mostly at nvidia for charging these crazy prices but also at people buying at these prices. They and you aren't doing any of us any favours by telling nvidia this price point was acceptable. It's not acceptable in my opinion and I doubt it's really acceptable in your opinion either? The difference is I was pushed to the point where I said no and I wish a lot more people had hit that point too so we could all benefit.

I've said it before and honestly think it's a sad day when a single GPU costs as much as a midrange gaming PC. That's just absolutely shocking value for money and it's sad for everyone.

Now I am purely guessing but I'm pretty sure most people are annoyed for the same reason as myself.

The only good thing to come out of this so far is most of the reviewers are saying the same thing and telling people not to buy.

So long story short, enjoy your purchase but I hope you understand I wish you and anyone else hadn't bought one.

That actually makes perfect sense and I can see where you are coming from. I, in fact can't argue with any of it (which is hard for me)! The one thing I have noticed is stock and still being there. Maybe more people feel like you and have shown this by not buying.... Launch day normally sees all stock sold but this isn't the case at all.

I genuinely do hope stock becomes cheaper and has happened before, so if it does, that will be a lesson for me also.

I Remember those days Gregster, where you had to cut your cloth accordingly. I game more now in my 40's than I did in my youff and relax once the wife has gone to bed playing pooter games. I like to immerse myself away from reality in PC games and I socialise with gaming freinds who've I've been gaming with for 20 years. Socialising without leaving the house. Thursdays and Sundays are multiplayer nights as standard nights for us since forever and other nights I lay single player games/campaigns. Moreso as the nights draw in. I have considered the 2080ti since the reviews as I wasnt pre ordering with no reviews as the price was a bit of a leap. I'm an impulse buyer so it needs to be in stock and next day delivery for the itchy trigger finger to hit the buy button.

Once retailers get steady stocks then i may but I cant see the prices staying up that high unless they manufacture to demand - I wonder what the wafer yeilds are?

I agree and like what you have put, i think the same for a lot of things, unfortunately this day and age people will just buy it no matter what, such a shame feed the greed :(

I genuinely can't believe people are buying this GPU. I'd be the laughing stock in our Discord if I said I owned a 2080 TI. If the retailers could promise a substantial performance increase in the next 3 months then it'd be worth it. I don't buy guesswork and neither should you.
