I'm really enjoying this, feels more like a Tomb Raider game than the previous two.

I was playing on hard but the game auto-saves so often I didn't feel like I was really getting punished for dying, bumped it up to Deadly Obsession and enjoying it more now, more intense. Hopefully I won't regret it later...

Thanks Lara for the adventures! :)
Just finished SOTTR on Hard, and enjoyed it.

In fact I enjoyed the entire rebooted Trilogy; From fresh faced archaeologist in search of the lost empire of Yamati, who had to kill for the first time to live!
Too Lara's second outing, in Siberia. Where fate and family ties would have her face to face with Trinity for the first time. And finally her coming of age and and been a full blown bad-ass Tomb Raider, in the shadows of Mayan temples preventing an apocalypse, all three stories where awesome fun.
I don't know which is my favourite. ROTTR and SOTTR are both significantly better graphically compared to TR2013. But I really enjoyed the origin story of Lara's first outing, and killing waves of the Solari.

Camilla Luddington's performance from voice acting and motion capture was amazing.
Especially in the last two games where facial expressions where profoundly better, helped to convey her feelings and emotional state. Camilla will always be my Lara, and below is some examples why. :D
ROTTR: In Siberia, during Lara's torture scene with Anna. Where she realises she has been betrayed.

SOTTR: In Oil Refinery, when O'Rourke tells Lara he has killed Jonah, and she goes on a murdering rampage. Only to realise after the fact, O'Rourke lied to her and Jonah is still alive.

I'll have to replay the Trilogy again soon, before deciding my favourite.
And Square Enix if you read this I am looking forward to a forth instalment....

Any settings tweaks for 1080ti/3440*1440? Just put everything Ultra?

Also, in the first area I'm seeing low GPU usage and high single core CPU usage. Anyone else seeing that?

Edit: Gutted man, it's not playable. :(

DX12 is what you want, otherwise CPU bound with a 1080Ti.

Perfect, that solved it. Cheers.

All you had to do was switch to DX11 that fixes 99.9% of the frame hitching issue.

DX12 solves it, not DX11. There wasn't any frame hitching, just high CPU usage.

Anyway, hitting average 80fps with all max now. I just got to the first camp fire, and graphics look similar to the last game.

Enjoying it. :)

Good to hear you fixed it. Graphics do not look much different until you have played a few hours then you start to see how much better it looks! DX12 solves it if you do not have many CPU cores I guess.

5960X in his signature is 8C/16T.

DX11 just bottlenecks high end cards. DX12 is far more efficient, and on release many performance analyses revealed that DX12 performed way better.

Below is a better more reputable review but in German

https://www.computerbase.de/2018-09...ctx_11_vs_directx_12_von_full_hd_bis_ultra_hd

The 1080Ti not used in either remember is 40% more power than the 1080, so gets bottlenecked far more in DX11.

Excellent review there. The CPU testing is very thorough.

I'm a few hours in now and have just reached the hidden city area. I do agree that it's a pretty game, but I'm not seeing the big jump in graphics quality from the first area?

So far, it looks like ROTTR with a bit more polish. Gameplay is also very similar, which isn't a bad thing IMO.

Stuck on the below puzzle on this tomb found in Kwaq Yaku.

I'm trying to get the first pendulum to hit the second one to move the obstruction in front. See Below.

You'll want to open up the air vents, jump over to the right platform and use your bow with rope to pull on it, it will pull it towards you knocking the broken middle one out. Jump back, close vents and continue.
