i7 965 & 980Ti vs Ryzen 2600 & 1050Ti @ 1080p

As per title, which would be better? Both with have 16GB DDR3/4 and an SSD running the like of TF2, Overwatch and all the other cool games the kids play these days.


I personally think the 980Ti Combo but would like some opinions, please.

980Ti is obviously a much better card, but for the games mentioned probably unnecessary.

I'd pick the Ryzen 2600 & 1050ti purely as it's a much newer platform, won't bottleneck subsequent GPUs and should be good for years to come.

The X58/1366 platform whilst great, is now 10 years old and even just in IPC terms we have moved on probably 40%, without including increased core counts, increased memory bandwidth (from DDR4) as well as other modern platform niceties such as PCI-E 3.0, usb 3.1, m2 storage etc.

Thank you for the quick reply, I didn't realise the X58/1366 was that old, I'll pass on the information.
