Is my 550w power supply enough for these components?

Hi!

Currently I have an XFX TS550 Bronze Supply.(http://www.xfxforce.com/en-us/products/ts-series-bronze-full-wired/ts-series-550w-psu-p1-550s-xxb9)

My config:
Processor:: Intel® Core™ i7-6700K
Memory:: Kingston DDR4 2666 8GB HyperX Savage CL13 KIT (2x4GB)
Motherboard:ASUS Maximus VIII Hero
HDD:: WD Black 1TB (WD1003FZEX)
SSD::Intel 535 Series 120GB, OCZ VECTOR 180 240GB, OCZ VECTOR 180 240GB
VGA:: MSI Gaming TRIO RTX 2080

Now, I replace the video card from Gigabyte GTX 970 gaming g1 to MSI Gaming TRIO RTX 2080.

Is my current power supply enough for these hardwares and new video card?

Thank you

Gaming power draw of parts should be well below 400W.

But it's not like that PSU is exactly overly modern to go with such luxury priced graphics card.
XXB9 is based on Seasonic S12 II, which was low end group regulated budget platform already in start of decade.
Modern at least 80+ Gold PSU would be more fitting pair for such high price GPUs.

I don't see the point upgrading to a new PSU if the old one works?

Not really - the PSU is just the fuel :) It's not going to make any difference to performance as long as it's sufficiently good
Fuel is like electricity coming from wall.
PSU converts that energy coming from wall to form more usable for PC parts, like car's engine converts chemical energy of fuel to mechanical energy/movement.

And it's certainly good thing that PSUs doesn't contain/store that energy like fuel...
I sure wouldn't want to think about bad PSUs releasing their energy in uncontrolled way.
(for big release of energy imagine explosion)

It isn't sufficiently good though, that is what he is saying. A group regulated psu is old hat these days.

It is definitely good enough, and buying a new one is not going to make a single bit of difference, other than £80 less in his pocket.

I don't think the car analogy was a good one to begin with, as I get what you're saying, but also a car's engine impacts the performance of the vehicle. A PSU doesn't (unless of course it doesn't work).

If you want a better explanation than I can give then read through the thread below (Especially Stefan Payne comments). The XFX TS is based on the Seasonic S12II.

Right now I get you - I didn't realise there was an inherent design flaw with the PSU. In which case, always better to settle for something decent that'll last 5+ years. Last time I checked, stuff like the Supernova G3 were well regarded?

The G3 has a few issues with OTP being set too high. It is also supposedly noisey under load. The Toms hardware review of the 850W mentions a few other things, but they still rate it. I usually suggest other units these days (Seasonic Focus, Bitfenix Whisper, Antec Earthwatts etc) just because it is so hard keeping track of all the different EVGA models :D
