Useful for MM, build and motor threads where you're not particularly interested others comments.

Or does it show only posts made by the "original poster" as opposed to just the "original post"

Yes - it shows all posts by the Original Poster
For example you could look at crinkleshoes motors thread and just select his posts

additional feature request- can we have a badge to highlight posts by the op in-thread, for when you do want to see everyone else's posts.

Handy for when we have updates on a tasty thread which are buried under tons of dad jokes.
I dunno if they can perhaps change the wording to make that clearer:
“Show only OP’s posts” perhaps
But it does sound like quite a useful feature.

Also, if you check one box the other box isn't automatically checked. This is terrible for OCD. It also means that it is possible to check both Show only OP boxes and then have the entire thread revealed!
Madness.

took a while to see the two boxes but yeah that's daft! tick box just looks a bit wonky because it's not in line with the text
useful to check op posts - yes, but,
if it leads to increased duplication of replies (of dad kokes?), where folks fail to read preceeding posts, then kind of self-defeating.
