Great result tonight. United got a bit lucky at times and Juve's finishing was poor, but a win is a win. Hopefully Sanchez recovers from his dead leg in time for the weekend, I thought he held the ball up well and worked hard. The front three works much better with him in there instead of Lukaku, there's more movement and more pace.

Can't believe people are lauding the Man u result. Sure they got the 3 points which is obviously good but listening to the radio today its like Man U have turned a corner etc etc. They were pretty poor and 2nd best all most of the game.

It's great seeing a English team doing well especially in Italy but lets not pretend they played like world beaters!

I don't believe anyone believes they are world beaters....but a disappointing draw against Chelsea, two important wins, and a win away against Juve before the Manc derby is a real boost compared to where the team was just before the last int break - the team is still a few individuals papering over the (massive) cracks. DDG of course, Martial / Pogba (who was quiet last night) / Shaw seem to be working well on the left although the right is still basically barren....and matic was less of a liability last night because he was seemingly playing a little more advanced with Herrera doing the DM role.

It would now be typical to get a couple of really bad injuries during the int break which completely ruins the good work in the last few weeks.

I'm not sure how you can say Pogba is papering over the cracks, if you took his price tag away you'd be none the wiser that he was a 'star'.

Most of the time he's a deadweight and a liability, it's only occasionally he performs well, which is I'm assuming only after he gets a Jose rocket stuck up his arse

Yeah, its not a massive surprise that we look a lot better with a mobile, skilful front 3 instead of Lukaku killing all our attacks and doing sweet FA. I'm amazed that it has taken Mourinho this long to actually give it a go. I have a suspicion that he was forced into it as well with Lukakus injury or he would still be standing around doing nothing up front game after game.

Football fans. Loads of people on Redcafe are acting like we were good and got a little lucky to nick a goal at the end. We could and probably should have been 3-4 goals down by the time we scored. We have been **** for years now and would have finished well outside the top 4 most seasons without DDG. Your goalkeeper should be helping your team not carrying it. On another day Juventus would have smashed us with exactly the same level of performance.

No idea why football fans seem so incapable of differentiating between results and performance. Results without performance is a really bad thing in the long term whereas performance without results almost always changes. One changes for the better and one always changes for the worse.

Matic was awful again last night. Static as always, allowing runners to coast past him and constantly looking to go backwards under even the slightest of pressure. The top teams play between the lines and it makes it so much harder to defend against them. Juve did it constantly in the last 2 games against us. Its why we looked poor in attack and shakey in defence. We don't overload areas of the pitch, we don't play balls between the lines and we don't attack with enough pace. Defensively we basically allow them to come onto our defence constantly because no one in front of them is doing anything.

All these recent results are is a bit of a temporary up tick and a large slice of luck. We won't finish top 4 this season without buying 2-3 players in Jan or getting rid of Mourinho. He hasn't lost the dressing room but his tactics and coaching of the team are so sub par its crazy for this level of club.

Does it though. Liverpool and Spurs have performed well for many seasons going by your analogy. What have they won in the past 5 years?

Liverpool are improving pretty much every year and got to a CL final. Tottenham are operating on a mid-low table budget and finishing top 4 most seasons.

United are playing utter crap that their fans hate watching and have spend half a billion in the last 5 years. What do we have to show for it? A EL and a couple of meaningless cups.

We are all operating in a league where City have more money, probably the best manager in the world and are generally likely to win the league most years. United are the only side with the financial clout to compete and we are a shambles. Ask pretty much any United fan if we are doing well at the moment and they will laugh at you.
