I've only seen one game where the Vega 64 beats the 1080 Ti but I'm talking average figures here. With driver maturity, the Vega 56 should be matching the 1070 Ti on average. At launch it was slightly ahead of the 1070 (at 1440p at least, which is what I'm looking at).

Sod it, Vega 56 arriving on Monday :D. The gf will be pleased, she can replace her GTX 770 with my RX 480.

On all those games Vega 64 performance is close or even ahead of the 1080Ti. There might be more games though.

New big bang driver next month will push AMD cards even further in performance as well, could become really close on even more games between a V64 and a 1080ti

Nope there are a few games where it beats or is very close to the 1080ti as well now. Like Forza 7 and Monster Hunter world.

According to eurogamer the 1080Ti is on average 10-15% faster than the V64.

There will be anomalies here and there, but there's no way there can be a sweeping statement that the V64 is close to the 1080Ti.

Dammit @Gibbo, it's my birthday soon and that V56 deal is so very tempting but I REALLY can't afford it and there doesn't seem to be much gap between that and my 1070.....

EDIT: anyone know if they do a waterblock for this - might just push me over the edge!

I'm from the US. Anyone know if there'll be any custom fees if I were to order from Overclockers?
You don't get charged customs fees, but you may be charged sales tax or other appropriate import duties, which the carrier may charge an additional fee to collect; however, you are entitled to the tax free price in the UK, so should either be charged the excluding VAT price or you should be able to claim the VAT back.

It's been 6 years since I last upgraded. I've been sniffing around for a new graphics card for a while, saw this deal and have just ordered the V56. I'm moving up from a HD7950, my CPU is an i5-3570. Am I in for a treat tomorrow or is my CPU going to bottleneck it? Monitor is 1440p.

Depending on how demanding the game and the scenes you play is.

Take relatively CPU intensive game like Monster Hunter World for example you'd need fast CPU alongside graphic grunt. I mean the game is mostly more intensive on graphic side, but there are times that even my i5 2500K overclocked to 4.6GHz would be hitting 98% load to keep the frame rate at above 60fps at 1440 when the bottleneck is not on the graphic side.

The only games I've found where my GPU isn't running at 100% are massively-multiplayer online games. Often in those games, neither my CPU nor GPU is being maxed out so I'm not even sure where the bottleneck is. Of course, a Vega 56 might show more of a bottleneck than an RX 480, but I plan to upgrade to Zen 2 next year anyway and I can easily last with my current rig until then.

Hi there

Vega 56 is nearly sold out!
Good news Sapphire agreed to a further 1000 due next Friday. :)

Also Gigabyte and Asus have reacted and done me some Vega deals which are now live, so go check them out.

Also to help people as there seems some confusion how AMD and NVIDIA compares

Vega 64 performs around 1080, but can rival 1080ti in odd title and 4K
Vega 56 performs around 1070ti
RX 590 8G out performs 1060 6G by 10-20%
RX 580 8G performs around 1060 6G
RX 580 4G nearly matches 1060 6G but beats 3G
RX 570 8G around 1060 3G performance
RX 570 4G around 1050ti performance

Of course AMD win every segment due to lower price and better games bundle.

So remember if Sapphire sells out keep buying I have more incoming.

This deal is costing AMD and Sapphire big money so a lot of thanks goes to them for making it happen and exclusively with OcUK. :)
