So far haven't thrown any errors doing some stress testing with Aida, Ryzen Master and Occt without changing much from last night.

Aida 64 hammers the GPU more than most as far as i can tell, got the Gpu freq upto 1780 ( per hwinfo) which is the highest i've seen.

Did a few runs with PBO off / on via Ryzen master and all seemed well.

Havent done long enough on any of them. Also have Realbench to take a look at.

One thing i noticed was my Minimum processor state was 5% in the Power settings, and it should be at 90% on Ryzen balanced to stop core parking. I probably changed that early days , my bad. Will see if that helps later. Gym time.
Try only changing the p6 and p7 power states to 1080 and 1100 with +50% power limit, and hbm base volts at 1000mv and let me know if it still crashes, also try with max power state for the cpu

I will try that later, thats similar settings i tried when Undervolting etc yesterday. Just trying to prove when I can get it to blow up and not on standard settings.

Just blacked out again in Firestrike Ultra first run after boot, settings as last night but min processor state at 90% and GPU Power limit back to zero.

But i left it alone this time and the CPU / Fans etc still wind up and down, its finishing the CPU Physics test (3rd test) and then doing the combined test ok (4th test) , but black screens as it ends the physics test ... Or should i say it switches resolution i think between tests before going to the Combined but doesn't come back.

Left it a minute till the fans slowed back down and rebooted monitor ,its completed the tests ok and logged the scores for all 4 tests ok, no errors , no gpu errors etc.

Scores from Physics test / Combined look ok and comparable to other runs despite no monitor output.

So i'm at 1440p and the Firestrike Ultra tests are @ 4k. ( Presumably some sort of Virtual Super Resolution happens behind the scenes ) . Timespy Ultra is the same and it seems happy switching in and out on that.

Going to DDU and put GPU drivers back in first.

Possibly fixed ish.

Tried a few other things as convinced its more of a GPU / monitor / switching issue , swapped dp cables, ports etc still same. Monitor is a Benq XL2730Z, had a couple of years without issue. Using the Benq monitor driver / 144 hz.

Noticed stuff in Radeon Settings / Display / Specs / Overide

Googled "Adjust Voltage Swing" and found this mention by AmdMatt. ( Searched in the AMD driver thread here and didnt find it mentioned )

https://community.amd.com/thread/212160

These options can potentially help a user overcome intermittent flashing or black screen issues that sometimes occur with monitors due to a bug or firmware issue.

Changed Adjust Voltage Swing from 0 to 1 and the problem seems to have gone away. Switches in and out of tests fine during Firestrike. Put back to zero and reboot, issue comes back.

Wonder if boosting power to 25% / 50% in Wattman somehow achieves something similar, i.e. stops voltage somewhere along the way dropping a bit too far for the output signal.

Very well done sir, I would have never of thought of this My next was the cable, but you had the same thought and followed to the golden solution!

Well done to pursuing it to a successful conclusion. From the description and you saying it occurs at the same point, I was thinking if it's not the cpu, then possibly it's the gpu crashing from switching from an idle state to a part load p-state. But really it's the display wake up/stay on signal that was causing it.

Ta ) Bit paranoid so just repeated the test with it off / on at 1 and seems repeatable. Maybe its something that Adrenalins introduced / made worse. I'll maybe try older drivers tomorrow before going back to tweaking. Dont know why it works, but at least i can move forward ! Cheers for all the help.

Copied the settings from a few pages ago, am I right in thinking Heaven is the best thing to test/benchmark with?

Also, could I get added please @Kaapstad?

I used Heaven when I first started testing and all seemed well, then I read about using the old RotTR that uses the old unreal engine and apparently puts a a better real game load on the gpu. So tried it and got an immediate lock up. Had to raise the P6 and P7 a tad (not very much) and voila, all is good. The advantage of this demo is you can alt-tab to minimize the screen and its still running in the background, so you can tweak settings on the fly as it were.

just RMA'd my gigabyte 64 today due to random crashes resulting in black screens, fans going full speed and needing a forced shut down. asked for refund then will probably go for the sapphire version, hoping the price stays where its at on that one at the moment.

@bigfoot4616 Did you RMA it through Overclockers and if so how easy was it? I've been trying to do the same and at the moment I'm aiming to get the same card as a result of the same issues you are experiencing, but i'm not sure if its worth going for a replacement Gigabyte card first.

Finaly took the time to install my EK a240r wc loop, and the results are really good.
Temps are down to 57°C gpu 55°C vram under load. I'm rocking StarCitizen at 40-100 fps and really enjoying it.

You should put an overclock on your cpu, With a cheap Bequiet aircooler I was able to give mine a 100% stable 4.5 ghz overclock using just the multiplier. If you have it underwater & don't mind messing around with it you could have a good chunk of performance going unused, Several OCUK locals have had 4.7 or 4.8 out of their 4790k's.
