I’ve probably missed 500 threads about this already:o apologies if that’s the case, I’m not jumping for joy or have any excitement tbh - I’ve got a1080ti which I’m happy with so this isn’t aimed at me as such - I’m just wondering what’s the views on this amongst those looking for developments at this level in the market? :)

Seems to be a good buy. Why did they show BF5 at 1440P with rtx on on this card if it can’t run it though?
I’m a bit puzzled by this too.

Also they are offering apparently a 1070ti beater yet it’s nerfed by having only 6Gb VRAM...

On the face of it it looks like a 1070ti replacement for 1070ti money but with less RAM and the wholly underwhelming Ray Tracing. :(

They are saying in their press release, DLSS will soon be enabled in Battlefield V and RTX On+DLSS On provides comparable frame rates to RTX off. Nice.

$349 = £350 for the cheap blower versions. Decent ones most likely £370-400, meh.

6gb is also meh, personally wouldn't buy anything with less than 8gb in 2019.

Exactly. A series of cards that last gen cost around £250 So in a market segment that is far more frugal than the top end theyve added nearly $100 basically meaning they are selling a 60 class card for 70 class money which perform identical.

Yet another year where performance for price has stagnated. Wonderful

The 2GB of VRAM deficit 'shouldn't' be an issue at the target market and resolutions the card is aimed at, mostly 1080p and some at 1440p unless of course you're into running custom texture mods and the like which eat VRAM for breakfast but those people are a tiny minority and not something Nvidia are going to worry about. As for the RTX performance, Its little better than a card for running ray tracing demo's to give you a taste of the future.

In a few months though people won't have much choice but a 2060 if their budget is limited and they want an Nvidia card.

Founders edition is £329 and I don't think Nvidia have given the AIB makers any room to charge higher prices on the 2060, doubt you'll see any costing more than £350 and some will cost less than £300.

AIB's can charge what ever they like, go tell Asus that their Strix version needs to be less than £329, you'll be laughed out of the building. :p

The next console release, assumed to be 22 months away, might change this. 22 months is a fair while. But presumably they will still be trying to sell this card a year from now... Unless this really is going to be a 'short-gen'.

So the 60 series cards are now moving close to the RRP of the previous gen 70 series cards with slightly better performance than the previous 70 series card. What a time to be alive. So the RTX3060 is going to be close to RTX2070 pricing now.

£480 for a 2070 is the same price point as the £400 I paid for a 2 year warranty 1070 at release. You can't ignore inflation and currency devaluation when comparing release price points.

Same goes for the 1060 vs 2060 release price points. Whether its worth buying over the old model at its end of line price point is another matter!

In short!

2060 = 1070Ti performance with 6G and RTX features
2070 = 1080 performance with 8G and RTX features
2080 = 1080ti performance with 8G and RTX features
2080Ti = King, best gaming card money can buy if you are happy to drop a grand.

2060 makes 1070 and everything above EOL. Hence the clearance deals on 1070 at £299, 1070Ti is pretty much sold out now and will remain around £350 as its got 8G VRAM, some people prefer the older gen and more VRAM.

1060 shall remain, how long is an unknown there is nothing on the road map to show a replacement for 1060, but am sure something will come, no doubt by Computex at latest.

I bought a 1070ti about a week ago at £350 and it's great, but I can't tell if I should regret it now..?

I'm kind of annoyed by this feeling :/, any thoughts?

I find it bit odd that 2060 and 2070 are so close perf wise. Why not bump the 2070 (and 2080/2080 ti) further up a bit and make them stand up against previous gen a bit better?

OK then, lets take the official dollar MSRP of both the 1060 6gb and the 2060 6gb, that way we can remove the UK's "currency devaluation"

1060 6gb - $249
2060 6gb - $349

so $100 increase between 1 generation. On a market segment that is more sensitive to prices. It's a joke price for a 60 class card.

Difficult to know at this point as we have no unbiased performance numbers or whether the 2060 will actually sell at msrp.
