I find it bit odd that 2060 and 2070 are so close perf wise. Why not bump the 2070 (and 2080/2080 ti) further up a bit and make them stand up against previous gen a bit better?

I have to agree. Much bigger price difference too between a 2060 and 2070 than the 1070 Ti and 1080. Going by the prices on Nvidias site there's supposed to be a £50 difference between the 1070 Ti and 1080, and a whopping £220 difference between the 2060 and 2070.

I suppose once the 1070 Ti has joined the 1080 in being dropped down the memory hole, the extra 2 GB of VRAM may seem to justify the bigger price gap between 2060 and 2070, what with no 1070 Ti/1080 as an alternative, but then you'd think AMD's Vega64 will be left uncontested in that gap with 8 GB VRAM.

Looks to be a pretty decent little card for those on a strict budget and who game at 1080p. That said, even though I do currently game at 1080p I'm still opting for the MSI RTX2070 Armour as I may be getting a 1440p monitor chucked my way later on.
But the Vega 56 would be a better choice. It performs on par with the RTX 2070, and you get 3 free games. OCUK have one for £320 as well, so cheaper than the RTX 2060. No point in owning a RTX 2060 if the RTX gives 30 fps at 1080p

£330 is not a strict budget LOL. Mainstream is generally defined as under £300 IIRC,and that is where most card sales happen at.

It looks like Nvidia has succeeded in making a "budget card" to be £330+ to people on forums. Its like saying a £500 iPhone is a budget phone just because £1000 ones exist.

I mean even Linus went LOL at the price. Yes,Linus of all people.

2060 has too many weaknesses going forward for a new card.

6gb is not enough.
No SLI support kills any upgrading.
RTX will be poor and just adds to cost.
Price.

It does hit one thing. It should fit in my antec fusion case :o so there's that.

Will have to see what price it really ends up being too , and how that effects older cards (while stocks last)

From what little I've seen published so far, the 2060 comes out ahead of the Vega 56 and ahead of the vega 64 in some tests, so it seems unlikely the 56 outperforms a 2070. The 2060 also has around 25% lower TDP (and therefore heat requirements and probably noise). Each to their own, but AFAICT the 56 doesn't really compete here.

Sounds decent enough judging by the reviews. Guess the price may be justified given it seems to have 1070ti levels of performance but it does seem more than you'd expect for an x60 series GPU compared to previous models.

In fairness, once the 1070/ti stock dries up which Gibbo seems to suggest is going that way fairly quickly its RTX2060 or .....? Yup we are still waiting AMD....

It will do well regardless because there is no alternative that currently exists.

The 1060 performed as well as the previous 980, and cost $249

the 2060 performs the same as a 1070ti, but costs $349

So no the $100 increase for a xx60 class card is not "justified"

I suppose the other issue I have is that ~£350 is the absolute maximum I'm personally willing to pay for a GPU.

To be honest the way things are going I'll probably never upgrade my PC as the prices are more than I can justify spending when game consoles are priced around that level and offer fairly comparable performance/functionality these days.

Put it this way, I haven't about a PC game since the switch came out. It's not always about the shiny graphics at the end of the day.

That's how I feel and I've barely used my PC this last year. I see these video cards costing well over £500 and I think for that price I could buy a PS4 pro / Xbox one X and a Nintendo switch. To me that seems like a much better option. Either that or save the money for the ps5/xb2 when they're released.

Plus that's "just" the price of the GPU alone. Factor in the rest of the PC components and a decent monitor them the cost gets silly!

Great console, had a blast with Zelda, but not enough triple a quality games like that being released on the switch if you ask me. Majority of the games are ports, a decent chunk which have been on pc for ages at that.
