Hey guys,

So I got rid of my XFR a couple of years back and got a 535D, which was fine but I couldn't live with a diesel...

We're getting a dog soon and also struggle a bit with boot space when we go on UK breaks so I tasked myself with finding a good sized estate. I went car shopping, aiming to get something around 5 or 6 years old with a 2 or 3 litre turbo petrol engine, BUT I came home with an 2007 Audi S6 V10 Avant!

I just couldn't resist the 5.2L V10 engine, coupled with the Milltek exhaust that the previous owner had put on a few years back. It's nowhere near as quick as my XFR was, but I was never expecting that, but gosh does it sound lovely! I got such a good deal with the part exchange of my 535D that I went for it after checking it all out and taking it for a good drive!

It could probably do with an engine carbon clean (which I've read most Audi FSI engines suffer with) but has a full Audi and then specialist service history, clean MoTs, and is really tidy inside and out (save for a few bumper scuffs).

Very happy every time I start the engine!! The sound is a bit unsociable on a cold morning but I don't leave for work until around 8.30 or 9am most morning so not really an issue. I'm quite pleased at how quiet it can be at motorway speeds when not accelerating too, but push the pedal a bit and wow.

Thought I best get a V10 before it comes pretty much impossible, and didn't want spend RS6 money or M5 estate money.

How did Audi manage to make a car both consume that much fuel and be that slow whilst doing it? Quite the achievement :D

On the road....
I missed who’d posted this and on seeing Mal at the end I was about to have a laugh, thankfully I realised it was you not the other one! :o :p

Is one of these as potentially ruinous as an e61 M5 out of curiosity? How about long term residual value?

Either way, epic thing, as you say soon to be something we just won’t get any more, enjoy it! :)

Just curious why the S6 is nowhere as fast as XFR. A quick look at the S6 puts it at being slightly quicker 0-60. Was the XFR tuned?

The jag has another 70-odd bhp, a decent chunk more torque, and a supercharger for a more even spread of torque. It's only 200cc down on capacity, as well. It's no surprise that it's quicker.

For some reason I read S6 as RS6 every time and was gobsmacked when you said it was slower than the XFR.

V10 with an aftermarket exhaust. Why haven’t we got videos yet?! :D

I hope it is more reliable than my (previous gen) S6, which was always broken with little things that cost more than you'd think but not enough to bin the car!
