Soon to join you lot in the red. Have a 2700X arriving in a few days. I know the 3xxx series are due but not for months and my CPU is getting on a bit now. I've got board and RAM bookmarked to order, as I rang sales and was recommended them.

Looking forward to the upgrade :)

I recommend these . . .

If you can't wait for 3000 series.

Use this for RAM . . .

Not sure about the board as i'm still on my X370 but for ram I would suggest 8pack ram.

i'd hold off as long as possible. if pricing of the Ryzen 3xxx product is released and it's in line with the rumours it may well drive down the price of the likes of the 1700x

I've heard a lot of good things about this memory, but bit expensive for me. I have ordered a 16gb kit of corsair vengeance 3200mhz that is on the motherboards qvl. Hopefully this works ok.

So this kit did exactly the same thing so I've RMA'ed the board and getting a refund from another supplier. Is anyone else having this problem with the MSI B450 tomahawk board? Any other recommendations for a good b450 board?

back on team red again with a Ryzen 7 2700 laptop. These ryzen chips are very refreshing remind me of my old FX-57 Chips back in the good old days of AMD. Cant say i was too impressed with the FM2 7850K Performance just crashed after about 1.5 years of use it just did not keep up with progress in software.

7850k is an APU, very low end, you don't build anything with that expecting future proofing really, it was weak on release, unless your use case is web and office stuff, in which case they are fine, I still run an A10 5700 in my daughters machine and it is fine for her usage.

For gaming, am I better off leaving my chip on Auto clock speed and Auto voltage letting XFR do its job and take me to 4.1 GHz (for X amount of cores), as games generally still perform better with higher clock speed than multiple cores?

I'm stable at 3.9 GHz overclock but recently updated my BIOS and after setting my RAM values and not CPU overclock, I loaded into a game and noticed more performance.

I know this will differ between games due to core utilization but interested to know the general opinion from Ryzen owners.

Im tempted by a PC I saw on HUKD that includes a 2600 and an RX 580 to name a few for £499. However I'm going to price up a mini-itx build first using similar parts. Really only want it to play WOW classic and a few games like Forza at 1080p, I'm not falling into the trap of building a 4k capable beast only to play old games.

The 2600 seems like a great compromise out of all the available ones currently anyway

I am a little more than fashionably late to the party, but I have finally replaced my aging X58 platform with a Ryzen 1600X, MSI B350 PC Mate and 16gb Memory.

The 1600X will be going under custom water before so I'll be sure to have a read throught this whole thread for tips and info in regards to overclocking.

The memory is pretty standard Corsair LPX 3000 CL15 which I think is Hynix IC's and highly doubt that there would be any untapped performance to be gained from them..
