I'm seeing roughly same used prices for A3 and A4.

I'm assuming the A3 is more expensive because of the S tronic paddle gear shifts in the above links?

I haven't been out to look at the Audi's yet, just looking online. I was settled on the A3 sportback but now I'm looking at the A4 which doesn't look to be much biggger. I like the full leather seats tho.

What would you go for the A3 or A4? Thanks.

Any reason why your not considering the Jag XE or BMW 3 Series? from what I’ve read - in terms of reviews rather than here in Motors - both are rated higher than certainly the A4.

The A3 is more a 1 Series competitor....

The A3 is a newer generation of car than the A4 which is why values have aligned.

I would pick an A3 saloon over an A4.

had the same dilema last year and after taking both for a decent test drive, I bought the A4. Not had a single regret, love it. This was my first Audi after two BMWs, but certainly won't be my last.

best advice, go and see them youself and pick which YOU prefer.

:edit: Sorry, just noticed your budget. Makes sense to look at the A3
