Spec me a CCTV System

The reflection at night is down to the IR bouncing off reflective surfaces such as number plates or sides of cars which is what I am trying to combat. I will tinker with switching the night mode off and IR to see how the footage looks.
The only other annoyance is Hikvision not working with OSX at the moment. The phone app is lacking for anything other than quick playback and notifications.
I need to install a Windows VM to access anything suspicious with smart playback.
I gave up with my Hikvision NVR, probably me not being tech savvy enough but i found it a pain

BlueIris is the way to go if you don’t want to purchase a standalone NVR.
The 2332 turrets mentioned a few posts ago are not low light. They are pretty rubbish at night tbh. The 2335 turrets are low light and are in a different league. Shame they are apparently being taken of the market. There is an 4K low light cam being released shortly which I would like to test but a figure $1000 is a turn off.
IR light will cause problems on number plates unless you are reading the plate at an angle or better to turn off IR and use in daytime mode but tbh, unless you have a low light cam with a motorised or a high mm lens, I wouldn’t waste my time to read plates at night.

I know others have asked already but anyone spec me a 2 camera outside POE system and i assume sort of hub/nvr for it ? And im guessing your all into alarms as well and although we have an older wired system atm im looking at getting a wireless system for more coverage withought running loads of cables . Yale seem to be top but looking at other options
I had this issue, could only be solved by switching to using a browser called SeaMonkey, its actually been quite convenient having a separate browser dedicated to my CCTV
What steps did you take to get it working via SeaMonkey? Install any third-party plugins? I couldn't get any playback when tried SeaMonkey. I've not tried for a few months.
My apologies. It was the 2335 I was thinking off. I couldn't source any when did my install last October so ended up with the 6MP turrets. I'm still looking out for one to install but like you said seem to be phased out at most places.

The closest turret to the 2335 in performance is the DS-2CD2345FWD-I 4MP.

I have a wired Texecom Premier Elite and rate it highly. The system is highly customisable. Worth checking out their Ricochet wireless range. The sparkies at work recommended them to me but I'm a bit old school and prefer wired security.
I'm lucky in that my house needs complete redecoration so I wasn't bothered about pulling up carpets, but I can see how most people would prefer not to go to such lengths.

I've been quoted £1k for supply, install/fitting of a Dahua system; 4 x external domes (4MP); 1 x PoE NVR and associated cabling. Does that sound about right these days? Also, any thoughts on Dahua? I had previously settled on Samsung Wisenet for self-install, but the specialist recommends Dahua instead?

Can anyone please tell me how to view a past recording on a Hikvision NVR and anaylise it for movement so you get little red lines on the video timeline when theres movement. I used to be able to do this but I cant remember how to do it! Plus I think I have a newer vewrsion of the iVMS software as Ive recently upgraded my pc.

I've just have 4x 4mp external HIKvision domes a central NVR fitted for £150 - took the guy 6 hours
I partly ran 2 of the cables, and supplied all my own kit to save money

Stick to The 2MP Dahua Starlites and never use dome cameras, only turrets. 4MP Dahua are a step down compared to the 2MP starlights.

I see that some people in this thread have the Arlo cameras; just wondered if there were examples of picture quality, and also how you have found them?
They sound ideal with regards to being relatively easy to install and the range of features available, but would be good to hear about anyone experiences.
Edit - whilst I am here, and without me considering the legal side of things, is there a high quality camera that operates like those that you can have in the garden to watch the local wildlife? The place I currently live has a bit of an issue with dog poo currently, and are looking for ideas to help manage it. It's all a bit big brother-esq, but dodging around dog poo that has been smeared all over the pavement is getting tiring...

Have you got part numbers? Sounds pretty bang on.
Dahua kit is good, great company too.
