Yo guys as the title says, I have a TV and a monitor hooked up to my GTX 1080. The TV is connected via the HDMI out and the monitor is connected via DP. Both screens have built in speakers which I’m not using.

I have a dedicated sound card (AE-5) with stereo speakers which I use for both screens.

The trouble is when I switch between the two, Windows likes to default my speaker settings to 5.1 which I then need to manually change back to stereo.

I have my soundcard and speakers set as the default playback device and have properly configured the stereo speaker setup within the Creative utility.

Any ideas? I’m wondering if the Nvidia sound driver is screwing with things?

I’d be quite happy to permanently remove or disable the 5.1 speaker option from Windows if there’s a registry hack to do so.

Cheers

Yeah, Nvidia driver could mess things up.
I've myself had it even hijack default playback device role once.
So at least disable all display output audio devices in Playback device list.
After that would remove HDMI audio drivers.
Also Device Manager should list is as High Definition Audio Device.
