I'm kinda embarrassed to admit it, but half of my HDDs are external. :o I've found them less expensive and just as dependable. I've been using them for years with no failures or problems. My user storage is on external and backup is on internal, 16GB each. Not sure what your media library will include, but if you plan to keep much video you might want to consider more than 1TB of media storage. 1TB is a drop in the proverbial bucket assuming your videos are mid to upper quality and surround sound.

It is mainly music, so 1Tb is fine for now.
Films are stored on my HP Microserver, which currently has around 8Tb of storage available.

Two Samsung 860 Evo SSDs are now fitted, and the max CPU temp has jumped to 56 degrees fanless.
No other changes have been made, so I guess I need to open the vents in my case.

Agreed, but it peaked at 66 degrees last night. That is getting a bit close for comfort.
I have opened the top rear vent on the case, and I have lost 20 degrees, with it dropping to 46 degrees max.
I am happy with that.
