Our seven year old son got City of Zombies for Christmas. He already had a smaller card based version.

It's a fantastic fun cooperative game which helps children and grown ups improve their mental arithmetic.

City of Zombies looks great im going to keep an eye out for it.

Recently had a couple of games of Stuffed Fables with my girls, went down an absolute storm, made by the same guy as Mice and Mystics but the game comes with a story book that is also the game board, its a dungeon crawler mixed with story and choice elements of a choose your own adventure as it has branching paths - highly reccomended, already looking forward to our next game.

4+ we had a lot of fun playing Dobble with ours and his buddies – the different methods of playing the game help keep it interesting. He loved playing Switch at that age too (like Uno just with regular playing cards). Recently purchased Outfoxed at a present for a 4 year old and they said it was a lot of fun – it’s a coop deduction game.

7+ they were enjoying Labyrinth, Cockroach Poker (fits of giggles with lying to each other) and Get Bit.

9+ at the moment and faves also include Barenpark, Exploding Kittens, Unstable Unicorns, and One Night Werewolf. Pandemic was a bit of a let-down – we should maybe go back and try it some more. Ticket to Ride was fun but they haven’t gone back to it that much. The theme seems to be more important than how deep any sort of gameplay might be.

I have to say Cockroach Poker (seems to be called Kaker Laken Poker in Europe) was a lot of fun with kids that age and it’s really easy for them to pick up. You can get the Royal version and just remove the extra cards to play the base game. Well worth the £9-£10

If the theme of TTR doesn't appeal, try and find a copy of Iquazu. It's got the same "collect groups of cards to play things" mechanic, but the theme of putting gems behind a waterfall as a dragon moves across the top might appeal more. I think it's better than TTR anyway.
